Pogba tells
teammates he
wants to leave
Paul Pogba has told his Manchester
United teammates that he wants to leave
the 20-time English champions in this
summer’s transfer window.
Pogba’s numbers for United this season are
impressive - scoring 16 times and contributing
11 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.
The 26-year-old’s form has been inconsistent,
however, and it is widely thought that bids from
Real Madrid and Juventus will arrive in this
summer’s transfer window.
According to L’Equipe, the 2018 World Cup
winner has made it clear to his United
teammates that he wants to seek pastures new
ahead of the 2019-2020 campaign.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Madrid
were ‘in advanced talks’ to sign Pogba, who has
previously called Los Blancos ‘a dream club’.
The Frenchman’s current deal with United will
expire in the summer of 2021, but the Red Devils
do have the option of an additional 12 months.
Gullit’s son makes his professional debut
Maxim Gullit, son of
Dutch footballing
legend Ruud Gullit made
his debut for AZ Alkmaar’s
B team at 17 years old
against FC Twente.
Aplayer has been shown the door by his
club after his attempted Panenka
penalty was saved in a Copa Sudamericana
game.
Bendrix Parra was playing for Paraguayan
side Independiente Campo Grande against
Colomia’s La Equidad in the last 32 of South
America’s equivalent of the Europa League.
When the tie, goalless after two legs, went
to a shoot-out, Parra stepped up to take the
third of Independiente’s spot-kicks – but his
attempted Panenka ended up being saved by
the chest of goalkeeper Diego Novoa.
As if the embarrassment of his very public
failure was not punishment enough, the
Venezuelan midfielder was subsequently
shown the door by his club.
Independiente president Eriberto Gamarra
told ABC Color’s Cardinal Deportivo: “The
board made the decision because his way of
taking the penalty was very irresponsible.
“We are all responsible for not reaching the
next round of the Copa Sudamericana but it’s
true that there was some upset in the group
and they blame him.”
The game ended in a
scoreless
draw
and Gullit came off the
bench with 19 minutes to go,
substituting left back Joris
Kramer for his first
Moise Kean has been one of the stand-out players this
season for Serie A champions Juventus and the Turin based
are now working to ensure the striker commits his future to
the Italian side by offering the player an enhanced deal that
will see the teenager’s salary increased four-fold
Kean currently earns 550.000 euro per season and the new
deal would see that increased to 2 million euro per campaign.
Juve club directors Pavel Nedved and Fabio Paratici will
represent the club in the negotiation process with agent Mino
Raiola representing the
striker, report Tuttosport.
Apart from Kean´s prolific performances for
Juventus this season bagging six Serie A
goals, with many coming from the bench, the
19-year-old also earned his first full international
caps for Italy and was on the score sheet twice
for the “Azzuri” in Euro 2020
qualifying games against Finland and
Liechtenstein.
Sarri charged by FA
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has been charged
by the FA for his role in a touchline brawl
against Burnley.
It had been alleged that Sarri was called a ‘s***
Italian’ by Burnley coaches during the 2-2 draw on
Monday.
However, the FA has found the former
Napoli Coach guilty of ‘misconduct’ as
he was sent down the tunnel.
The 60-year-old has until 18:00 BST
on Friday to respond to the charge.
•Messi
Messi reaches
his century as
Barca captain
Lionel Messi reached another career
milestone in Vitoria on Tuesday
night, celebrating victory with Barcelona in
his 100th match as team
captain. Messi started the game on the bench
and took to the pitch when Barça had already
gone 0-2 up, coming on to replace Ousmane
Dembélé on 61 minutes and was immediately
handed the skipper’s armband by Sergio
Busquets.
Messi first captained Barça in the Week 29
meeting with Celta de Vigo in on 30 March
2013, because Carles Puyol was out injured.
He got on the scoresheet that afternoon at
Balaídos but the points were shared
after Borja Oubiña hit a late equaliser. Leo
wouldn’t skipper the team again until the
2014/15 season under Luis Enrique when he
took over captain’s duties for the games
against Villarreal, Almería and Eibar. He
became vice-captain to Andrés Iniesta ahead
of the 2015/16 season and was promoted to
become the team’s first captain at the start of
this season following Iniesta’s move to Vissel
Kobe in May last year.
