The photograph above, from <strong>the</strong> Ken Magor transport collection, shows a steam tram <strong>and</strong> carriage at Parnell<br />

Place <strong>in</strong> March 1912. The driver is listed as G. Loche, conductors F. Corrigan <strong>and</strong> S. Gulliver. Also shown<br />

are T. Morris, J. Smith <strong>and</strong> J. Rolfe. The dest<strong>in</strong>ation on <strong>the</strong> tram is Lambton. The photograph below, at<br />

Parnell Place <strong>in</strong> 1905, lists <strong>the</strong> driver as B. Hadaway. The dest<strong>in</strong>ation is shown as Wallsend <strong>and</strong> Plattsburg.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> photograph above, listed as Parnell Place <strong>in</strong> 1902, <strong>the</strong> driver is named as D. Crawford <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> conductor<br />

as a Mr Fullford. The dest<strong>in</strong>ation is Merewe<strong>the</strong>r Beach. The photo below, also listed as Parnell Place <strong>in</strong> 1902,<br />

shows a steam tram with Mayfield shown as its dest<strong>in</strong>ation. The steam tram network was quite extensive,<br />

stretch<strong>in</strong>g ultimately to Speers Po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>and</strong> West Wallsend. Steam began to be replaced <strong>by</strong> electricity <strong>in</strong> 1923.<br />
