It was yet again a success, we could not have done it with out you. The
community garage sale is May 11 th . Good luck everyone and remember to
take down your signs when the sale is over. Next HUGE event is the 4 th of July
Celebration it will be held on June 29, 2019 at the Recreation Center. More
information to come in the next newsletter. Pool Season! Please disregard
last issues pool tag form. You will find the corrected tag form inside the pages

We encourage each of our homeowners to pay promptly as the cost to the
homeowner for collection begins mounting on February 1, 2019. If you would
like to establish a payment plan you can contact the onsite community
manager on February 1, 2019, at 281-213-3184 and/or send an email to Angela
Rivera at angela.rivera@associa.us. Keep in mind the terms of the payment
plan agreement include a $20 monthly payment plan fee and your association’s
monthly interest. Please pay your assessments on time to prevent from
receiving late fees and/or interest charges to your account. Please visit the

3157 Houston, TX 77253. As soon as possible. For your future reference you
can always pay ahead on your yearly assessments either in full or a little at a

The Board of Directors meeting of the Cypress Mill Homeowners
Association Inc. was held on February 27, 2019 at the Cypress Mill
Recreation Center, 14710 Mills Park Lane, Cypress, Texas.
With a quorum duly established, President Larry Ramirez, called Cypress
Mill Board of Director’s meeting to order at 6:05 PM. Larry Ramirez
opened the meeting with a prayer.
SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE
Board of Director - President announced that the minutes from January
23, 2019 are available on the community app TownSq.
CONSTABLE
Lt. Rogers: Updated the residents on security related issues at Cypress
Mill and surrounding communities. Homeowners will need to report any
questionable activity to the 24-hour dispatch 281-376-3472.

Hi-Tech Lawn: Mulching, ant treatment and weed treatment has begun
in the community. Change out of flowers. Moss Valley-large oak trees
- two in entrance potentially homeowner is requesting to trim limbs.

Indian Hawthorne request for removal near Moss Valley. Board President

Directors will be discussing into other landscaping companies.

After reviewing and discussion, Board of Directors Kevin and Beverly
motioned and approved the Meeting Minutes of January 2019.

Angela Rivera presented the January 2019 Financials. The Financials
were accepted as presented. The following items noted:
• Operating Funds of $521,280.09 and Reserve Funds of $313,874.11 as of
January 2019.
• January 2019 YTD actual expenses were under budgeted by $8,463.45
HOMEOWNERS FORUM
Homeowners present discussed the following items:
Medical Building being built on Kings Court
Includes 5-6 individual office spaces,
kitchen, supply room, reception area, storage closet, bathrooms.
ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION
RECONVENE FROM EXECUTIVE SESSION
The following items discussed during the executive session.
Motions were made and seconded and passed unanimously to:
• Homeowner (335-4274) Board of Directors reviewed account and
motioned and approved payment plan terms with management
company to monitor.
• Homeowner (234-8443) Board of Directors requesting further
information from attorney on account. Board of Directors have asked
homeowner to return at next meeting.
• 2019 Cypress Mill pool tag form and distribution times form were
motioned and approved by Board of Directors.
• ABP-Recommendation of portable guard stand - Board of Director have
requested further quotes
• Audiolink-Maintenance agreement - Representative unable to
attend meeting. Board of Directors instructed management to email
representative on issues.
• Estates pocket park-Iron gate - Board of Directors motioned and
approved Dunrite quote of replacement of iron gate plus maintenance of
the playground at $6,799
• Mosquito Control Agreement - was approved and motion was made to
extend treatment from March 15 th to November 15 th at $137.
• Scouts - allowed continued usage, are homeowners of the community,
motioned Board of Directors
• Homeowner (235-0457) via TownSq requested interest and handling
charges to be waived. Board of Directors reviewed account and motioned
and voted to decline request.
• Via email homeowner requested additional landscaping lighting at
Cypress Needle. After review of the area Board of Directors have declined
additional lighting request.
• Via TownSq homeowner requesting surrounding neighbors to trim
up trees. Board of Directors instructed management to place a blurb
reminder to community to trim up trees.
• Mills Park Lane and Cypresswood perimeter maintenance requested by
management after walk through. Board of Directors motioned to get a
quote from Dunrite for both locations.
• Mills Park Lane pool slide has been requested by management of
restoration. Board of Directors motioned to get quotes.
• Deed Restriction Signs was suggested by management for all entrances
of the community.
Board of Directors reviewed, motioned and approved for signs to be
posted. As well one No soliciting sign at Timber Cliff Lane and Cypress
Orchard Lane entrance from Skinner.
• Mills Park Lane - Iron gate repair was discussed by the Board of Directors.
It was motioned and approved quote from Alex Fence Company at $1,870.
• Basketball court light repair-Board of Directors instructed management
to ask Turner Electric for more quotes on lift.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, the regular
business session of the meeting was adjourned at 9:44 PM.
Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 6 PM.

streetlight’s six digit number located approximately 5 feet up the pole.

campuses to be open for student transfers for the 2019-2020 school year,
with student transfer forms made available online and at campuses
beginning April 1 st . The following campuses were approved for a limited
number of student transfers for the 2019-2020 school year:

apply for an Open Transfer Request for the 2019-2020 school year. The
Office of Student Services/Admissions will accept transfer requests from
April 1 st through June 3 rd . Transfer requests will be processed on a firstcome,

ATHLETIC PHYSICAL DATES UPCOMING
FOR 2019-2020 STUDENT ATHLETES
CFISD has scheduled its annual athletic physical examinations for the
2019-2020 school year at every district high school for incoming high
school students as well as sixth- and seventh-grade middle school
students. Physical forms must be completed in advance and turned in
along with payment at the respective high schools. Updated physical
forms, along with other pertinent 2018-2019 athletic information, are
available on the athletics page of the district website.
Examination cost will be $20 per student (cash or money order only). All
current and incoming high school students enrolled in CFISD schools
may attend examinations at the following sites:

Earns Prestigious Speech
And Debate Accolades
Cypress Woods High School junior Angela Zhong recently earned two national honors, as she was named
among six finalists for the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) Exemplary Student Service Award
and was selected to the 12-member USA Debate Development Team. Nominated by Cypress Woods Debate
and World Geography Teacher Jacob Koshak, Zhong was selected as a finalist from more than 120,000
student members in NSDA, the national honor society for speech and debate participation. The award was
introduced in 2017 and given to a student who serves his or her school, community, city, region or state using
skills honed through speech and debate. Zhong served as a student representative in the human trafficking branch to the NewGen Peacebuilders for
the International Rotary District 5890 Conference for Peace and Conflict Resolution. She also helped organize drives for school supplies after Hurricane
Harvey. Zhong is also part of the 2018-2019 USA Debate Development Team. The group of students will train and practice with USA Debate coaches,
alumni and the 2018-2019 USA Debate Team, a 12-member team of NSDA’s best student debaters chosen to represent the United States in international
competition. Six Texans were named to the two debate teams, with Zhong being CFISD’s lone representative selected.
Cy-Woods Student Advances To
State Science And Engineering Fair
Cypress Woods High School junior Govind Chada placed second at the 60 th annual Science and
Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH) for a project showcasing his research on novel methods for early
detection of lung cancer using machine learning. More than 1,000 students participated in the fair,
which was held in February at the George R. Brown Convention Center for students in Harris County
and 22 other surrounding counties. Chada’s project, titled “Using 3D Convolutional Neural Networks
for Classification of Lung Nodules and Early Detection of Lung Cancer,” competed in the Computer
Science category alongside more than 30 other projects that advanced to SEFH after winning at the
district level.
For his second-place finish, Chada advanced to the Texas Science and Engineering Fair, held in
March at Texas A&M University in College Station. Chada credits his success to strong support and
encouragement he receives from his teachers as well as extracurricular opportunities at Cypress
Woods such as Computer Science and Future Business Leaders of America.
Winning students at the state level will have the opportunity to advance to the Intel International
Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and participate in the Governor’s Science and Technology Champions Academy. The fair is the world’s largest
pro-collegiate science competition, with approximately 1,800 high school students across more than 70 countries and territories showcasing their
research. It will be in May in Phoenix, Arizona. The academy is a week-long, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) summer camp that
helps students explore practical applications and provide exposure to career options.

Join us June 10 th -14 th from 9 AM-12:30 PM for a fabulous week of Vacation
Bible School fun as we learn that life is WILD, but God is GOOD! ROAR
Vacation Bible School is for all children ages 3 years old (must be pottytrained)

just can’t pack it all in to a mere 3 hours! The youth will travel through age
appropriate stations including Bible Adventures, Music, Snacks, Kid Vid
Cinema, Outdoor Games and our wild and crazy Imagination Station where
they do fun science experiments that they can take home with them daily!
Registration is only $20 and includes all Imagination Station Gizmos and
Gadgets, daily snacks, Bible Memory Buddies, fun take home gifts and a

ST. AIDAN’S SETS SUMMER VBS
Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about Vacation Bible School
again and the folks at St. Aidan’s have another great program planned.
Scheduled for the week of July 8 th -12 th , St. Aidan’s usually hosts about 80
children. This year’s theme is ROAR: Life is wild. God is Good. We usually
have Bahama Bucks on the last day. That is always a big treat for our
students. And, last year, we hosted Wild Things Zoofari. They brought
a wallaby, a toucan, a lemur and a hedgehog. Everyone really enjoyed
that.” Cost of VBS is $30. Scholarships are available for families in-need.
New for this year, we are adding Triumph Sports so our students will
have a full-day option. From 12-4 PM, Triumph will run a Bible-based
sports camp. Participants will play dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag,
basketball, soccer and more. Early registration for this afternoon session
is $105 before June 1 st . After June 1 st , cost goes up to $115. Registration
is already open at aidanschurch.org. For additional information, please

SPRING BREAK/SUMMER CAMPS
CAMP CORNERSTONE IS THE PLACE TO BE THIS SUMMER
FOR AGES 2 THROUGH COMPLETION OF 4TH GRADE!
Camp Cornerstone is a week-long camp sponsored by Cornerstone United
Methodist Church and is for children ages 2 through the completion of 4 th
grade. Children must be 2 by June 1, 2019. Camp hours are 9:30 AM-1
PM. There are 3 sessions throughout the summer and you are invited to
participate in any or all!
Session I: “Stars & Stripes” is June 17 th -21 st , Session II: “Around
the World” is July 15 th -19 th , Session III: “Outer Space” is August
5 th -9 th . The cost per camp per child is $125 and is due at the time of
registration. To download a form from the Cornerstone website, go to
www.cornerstoneumc.org and click on “Ministries” and then select
“Preschool.” You will see a tab for Camp Cornerstone. Print the form and
have it filled out before you arrive, saving yourself time! Before each
camp session begins, you will hear from your child’s teacher so you can
learn more about the camp and they will answer questions about the
week-long fun. Each day your child will bring a backpack and a lunch
as they enjoy each other and the special things they will do during the
week. We look forward to having your child at camp this summer! It’s a
great time for everyone and you don’t want to miss any of it! Registration
will continue through May 2, 2019 or until camp classes are full. Once
camp classes are full a wait list will be started. Please call the preschool

hours are: Monday-Friday, 9 AM-1 PM.

Recipes & Gardening Tips
You could make this on National Apple Pie Day May 13th!
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cold milk
1 1/2 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
6 Fuji apples, cored and sliced
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
To Make Crust: In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, oil, milk,
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar and salt until evenly blended. Pat mixture into
a 9 inch pie pan, spreading the dough evenly over the bottom and up
sides. Crimp edges of the dough around the perimeter.
To Make Filling: Mix together 3/4 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons flour,
cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle over apples and toss to coat. Spread
evenly in unbaked pie shell.
To Make Topping: Using a pastry cutter, mix together 1/2 cup flour, 1/2
cup sugar and butter until evenly distributed and crumbly in texture.
Sprinkle over apples.
Put pie in the oven on a cookie sheet to catch the juices that may spill
over. Bake 45 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1 (8 ounce) tub frozen whipped topping, thawed
3 cups frozen blueberries
DIRECTIONS:
In a medium bowl, stir together the graham cracker crumbs and 3
tablespoons of sugar. Mix in the melted butter. Sprinkle evenly into
the bottom of a 9 inch square baking dish and pack down into a
solid crust.
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese with 1 cup of sugar until smooth.
Stir in salt and lemon juice. Fold in the whipped topping until well
blended, then fold in the frozen blueberries. Spoon over the crust
in the baking dish and spread evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and
refrigerate for at least 1 hour before slicing into squares and serving.

Here are some tasks to keep your landscape beautiful and productive:
Flowers: Time to plant summer blooming perennials and annuals
including plumbago, zinnias, angelonia, purslane, lobularia,
sunflowers, yellow bells, pride of Barbados, duranta and bat-faced
cuphea.
Vegetables: May is a great time to plant, from seed or nursery plants,
okra, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, winter squash, pumpkins, basil,
peppers, lima beans, eggplant, garlic chives and Malabar greens. If
you don’t want to dedicate an area of your yard, consider planting
here and there in your flowerbeds. Edible landscaping is a popular
new trend!
Lawns: Water 1/2 to 1” of irrigation per week. A rain gauge or straight
sided container (such as a tuna fish can) will help you know how long
to run your irrigation system to apply 1/2”.
Weeding: Hand pull or hoe weeds while they are still young or better
yet, maintain a 3” layer of mulch in all vegetable and flowerbeds to
deter weeds from getting a start.
Pruning: Remove spent blooms on spring and summer annuals to
promote new blooms.
Fertilizing: Fertilize flowerbeds and vegetable gardens w/slow release
organic fertilizer.
Water: Deep soakings between rain events is better than frequent
light sprinkling.
Birds: Spring migration continues until mid-May. Clean bird feeders!
Replace water in bird baths to avoid creating mosquito breeding
spots.
