Its our last chance to see the Textile Exhibition<br />
at St Barbe,<br />
which brings<br />
together twelve<br />
talented local<br />
textile artists<br />
working in a<br />
variety of<br />
different media -<br />
from felting to<br />
lace-making,<br />
weaving,<br />
patchwork and collage.<br />

Amongst the exhibitors is Pippa Crouch who<br />
you may remember was our cover artist for<br />
the February/March edition of this magazine.<br />
Command of the Seas:<br />
The Navy and the New Forest Against<br />
Napoleon<br />
Starts 8th <strong>June</strong><br />
The exhibition is designed to show the part<br />
played by our local admirals, William<br />
Cornwallis, Robert Man and John Peyton, in<br />
defeating Napoleon. Featuring items<br />
relating to our admirals on loan from both<br />
national and private collections, a highlight<br />
of the show will be JMW Turner’s second<br />
sketch for the Battle of Trafalgar, on loan<br />
from the Tate.<br />
The role of the New Forest in supplying<br />
timber and other materials to the local shipbuilders<br />
will be strongly featured.<br />
