INNOVATIVELASERTREATMENT
NOW AVAILABLE TO TREAT
GUM DISEASE!
Gum disease begins when a film
called plaque accumulates on the
teeth and calcium from saliva hardens
the plaque — this calcified plaque is
called tartar or calculus. Certain
types of germs that live in this plaque
and calculus damage gum tissue.
Your body tries to fight this infection
with an inflammatory attack, sending
white blood cells to the area to destroy
the bacteria. This inflammation
causes the tissue to bleed easily when
you brush or floss. This stage of the
condition is called Gingivitis.
If the infection and inflammation
persist the result is a chronic inflammatory
condition where, in addition to the
gums, ligament and bone around the
teeth are destroyed — often with no
symptoms. At this stage it is
called Periodontitis.
COMFORTABLE, ADVANCED
TREATMENT WITH LANAP
The doctors at Premier Smile Center
safely and effectively eradicate
persistent gum disease using the
FDA-approved Laser-Assisted New
Attachment Procedure (LANAP).
This revolutionary procedure uses a
minimally-invasive soft tissue laser
to gently remove diseased gum tissue.
The laser has multiple settings to
target different types and densities of
tissue, meaning surrounding, healthy
tissues are not affected. It also has a
setting to stimulate immediate healing
and to stop bleeding. The laser also
stimulates the body’s natural regenerative
potential, eliminating the need for
gum grafting after treatment.
To you, the patient, this means:
Less pain, less bleeding, less swelling,
less tissue removed, less down time
and less recovery time! LANAP
causes much less discomfort than
traditional gum disease surgery and
results in faster healing. Rather than
weeks of recovery, there is less than
a 24-hour recovery period with
LANAP, and most people feel
comfortable enough to eat once they
return home after the procedure. The
LANAP procedure requires no sutures
because there is no cutting. The
treatment is safe for patients with
health concerns such as diabetes, and
it provides long-lasting results.
The LANAP protocol can ONLY
be performed by a dentist who is certified
in the procedure. Dr. Charmaine
Johnson at Premier Smile Center is
LANAP certified and is highly
skilled in the procedure.
