Academic Advising
Advising in the College of Business Administration is a partnership between the
Student Success Center and Faculty.
Student Success Center
The SSC serves undergraduate Business Administration students. We provide resources and support for
student success. Our primary role is to assist students in developing a meaningful educational goal
toward graduation.
• Peer Mentors
o
Peer Mentors are current Stan State students studying Business Administration. They
offer peer to peer support during office hours and academic presentations. They also
assist with events like New Student Orientations and Meet the Firms Night.
• Academic Advisors
o
Academic Advisors conduct academic, career, personal and social advising. Advising
includes the development of educational plans, business course evaluations and
articulations, as well as graduation approvals.
Check the SSC website www.csustan.edu/cbassc or outside the office in DBH 217 for office hours and
advising times, as well as a full list of faculty advisor contacts. (209) 667-3786 | cbassc@csustan.edu
Faculty Advisors
The College of Business Administration has 28 full time faculty advisors that can provide career advising
and mentorship within your concentration. Advising can also include review of major/concentration
courses, business course evaluations and articulations, as well as graduation approvals.
Student Responsibilities
Become knowledgeable of the university catalog, class schedule and resources including:
• Business major degree sheets
• Degree roadmaps
• MAP-My Academic Pathway: STAN Planner, STAN Degree Progress, STAN Scheduler
Before meeting with an advisor:
1. Utilize your MAP tools to review and update your degree sheets. They can be found in your
Student Portal.
2. Think of goals for the semester and/or graduation you would like to meet.
3. Come prepared with questions and suggested classes you would like to take. Advising is a
collaborative effort between you and an advisor.
**Academic advising is not mandatory but highly recommended to ensure you are on track to
completing your degree requirements.
