TWIN LAKES SHARE & PRAYER
Twin Lakes Share & Prayer is a group of women that meets to encourage
one another in their journey in knowing, following and pursuing God. It’s
a friendship group and a safe place for us to learn and fumble, laugh and
explore how to pray in a non-formalized, conversational manner. For
2019, we are looking into study experience called “Faithwalking,” in which
people are increasingly following the way of Jesus, experiencing ongoing
transformation and developing effective practices for missional living:
to serve the poor, the marginalized and those in need, to work for the
common good and to restore individuals, social systems, communities
and nations to God’s design.
Faithwalking includes daily spiritual workouts tailored to one’s own
needs, exploration into understanding and reducing our own anxieties
so that we can show up in a group lowering the fears, tension and
anxieties of the group, including our own families. We develop new skills
in awareness of... and then saying what we truly think, feel and believe
without bullying, raising our voices or otherwise manipulating others or
without being bullied, manipulated or intimidated ourselves. The daily
spiritual workouts help us connect more and more deeply with God and
he prompts and directs us as we grow in this loving way of living.
We usually meet every other week at Carol Monahan or Patty Napp’s

open to any woman who is a resident of Twin Lakes. It might be a big

From the ARC Guidelines: 19.0 Landscaping
19.1 In general, landscaping (defined as living plants, trees, shrubs,
flowers, etc. and the utilization of non-living material necessary for
growth, e.g., bark, mulch, etc.) is not subject to ACC review and approval
except in circumstances wherein such landscaping is intended to
accomplish a structural objective, such as a hedge or a visual barrier
or is potentially objectionable, not in harmony with the surrounding
neighborhood or is specifically referenced in the Declaration.

digging of dirt or the removal of any dirt from any lot is expressly
prohibited except as necessary in conjunction with the landscaping of
or construction on such lot. No trees shall be cut except to provide room
for construction of improvements or to remove dead or unsightly trees.

Harris County Animal Services does not handle wildlife issues. For wildlife
help, see our phone number below or go to our Houston wildlife removal home
page. What to do when your neighbor’s dog won’t stop barking in Houston - Is
your neighbor’s dog keeping you up at all hours of the night and day with its
incessant barking? There is nothing worse, especially when you or your kids are
trying to sleep! Perhaps the dog barking is setting off your dog and all you can
hear all day is a chorus of bad barking? Whatever the case is - you have rights
and there are some steps that you should take in order to get the barking to
stop. You will probably want to avoid actually confronting the neighbor as this
can often end up in a rather heated debate. You should write or type up a small
note mentioning the dog barking - nine times out of ten, the owner will be at
work and probably doesn’t even realize what is going on. Make it short, to the
point and polite - exactly how you would want someone to talk to you if your
dog was making a crazy racket! If nothing happens or the letter isn’t in some
way acknowledged you can always turn to your local housing organization or
landlord if you are renting. There will normally be noise stipulations in rental
agreements, so it is well worth finding out if your neighbors are renting and
getting in touch with their landlord as well. You will find that most residential
areas have noise control rules set in place, so don’t be afraid to find out what
your rights are. If nothing happens from your complaint to the owner of the
dog and the housing organization, (or neither of you are renting) it’s time
to take a different approach. This time, grab some information on the noise
control in your area and print them out. Combine this in a neat little package
with another letter, basically saying exactly what the first one did, but this time
mentioning that this is the second time that you have tried to contact them
about the complaint and that you will be taking the matter further if nothing is
resolved. Again, do not be threatening or menacing in your words or language.
If you still don’t get a positive outcome from your effort, it’s time to call the
boys in blue. You will need to remember that a dog barking situation is not
always going to be a priority for your local law enforcement agency, buy you
do still have rights so you should report the complaint. Make yourself a log of
everything that has been going on -photos or noise clips of the dog barking,
times and dates and also how long the barking goes on for, all copies of the
correspondence you have with the owner/neighbor etc. You will need all the
evidence that you can get your hands on in order to get your problem resolved.
Get yourself a lawyer. There are ways around this problem and if it comes to
resorting to a small claims court in order to allow your kids or yourself to get a
good night’s sleep or a nap, so be it!

TLWA Coffee Morning
We would like to invite you to our TLWA Coffee Mornings.
We meet most Thursdays, from 10 AM to Noon. We socialize,
drink coffee and enjoy a light refreshment and laugh a lot.

Our group is always open and is varying in ages and

ST. AIDAN’S SETS SUMMER VBS
Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about Vacation Bible School
again and the folks at St. Aidan’s have another great program planned.
Scheduled for the week of July 8 th -12 th , St. Aidan’s usually hosts about
80 children. This year’s theme is ROAR: Life is wild. God is Good. We
usually have Bahama Bucks on the last day. That is always a big treat for
our students. And, last year, we hosted Wild Things Zoofari. They brought
a wallaby, a toucan, a lemur and a hedgehog. Everyone really enjoyed
that.”
Cost of VBS is $30. Scholarships are available for families in-need. New
for this year, we are adding Triumph Sports so our students will have
a full-day option. From 12-4 PM, Triumph will run a Bible-based sports
camp. Participants will play dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag,
basketball, soccer and more. Registration for this afternoon session is

CAMP CORNERSTONE IS THE PLACE TO
BE THIS SUMMER FOR AGES 2 THROUGH
COMPLETION OF 4TH GRADE!
Camp Cornerstone is a week-long camp sponsored by Cornerstone United
Methodist Church and is for children ages 2 through the completion of 4 th
grade. Children must be 2 by June 1, 2019. Camp hours are 9:30 AM-1
PM. There are 3 sessions throughout the summer and you are invited to
participate in any or all!
Session II: “Around the World” is July 15 th -19 th , Session III: “Outer Space”
is August 5 th -9 th . The cost per camp per child is $125 and is due at the
time of registration. To download a form from the Cornerstone website,
go to www.cornerstoneumc.org and click on “Ministries” and then select
“Preschool.” You will see a tab for Camp Cornerstone. Print the form and
have it filled out before you arrive, saving yourself time!
Before each camp session begins, you will hear from your child’s teacher
so you can learn more about the camp and they will answer questions
about the week-long fun. Each day your child will bring a backpack and a
lunch as they enjoy each other and the special things they will do during
the week. We look forward to having your child at camp this summer! It’s
a great time for everyone and you don’t want to miss any of it!

at Klein Collins High School:
Students will participate in full orchestra rehearsal; sectionals for each
instrument (violin 1, violin 2, viola, cello, bass); technique classes for
each instrument; two electives; a recreation period; and lunch. The camp

SUMMER CAMPS AT EPIPHANY
LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL
Registration is now underway for our Summer Camps. We offer a variety
of 5 different mini-day camps for children ages 3 years (must be potty
trained) through entering 1st grade. These fun camps keep your younger
kids very busy while reinforcing concepts that they have learned in school!
All camps are filled with age appropriate learning disguised as fun!
This year our camps are themed after the youth’s favorite Disney movies! All
camps are Tuesday through Thursday, 9 AM-2 PM. We will also offer a 50
minute dance class on Tuesday’s from 2-2:50 PM weekly for those who may
want a little extra time! On week 1, we learn It’s A Small World After All! On week
2, we are getting ready for some Monster Mayhem! Week 3 is for all our little
STEM-tastic learners as we head into Wreck It/Race It week. Week 4 we will beat
the heat with some island style fun with water. Our 5 th camp is going to be, shall
we say, INCREDIBLE…as we end the summer with a super hero theme.
Each camp is $100 and includes a daily snack. Campers will bring a
peanut-free lunch daily. All camps include science, math, art, movement,

Nutrition services team
offers free summer meals
Starting this summer, CFISD’s nutrition services department will offer children
18 and younger the healthy Seamless Summer Option (SSO) breakfasts and
lunches at no cost to the child. “The SSO program is a great way for us to
provide access to meals for our students during the summer months,” said
Darin Crawford, director of nutrition services. “Kids need good nutrition to
fuel their summer activities and we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer
school meals during the long summer break.” SSO is a U.S. Department of
Agriculture nutrition program and is administered by the Texas Department
of Agriculture. The meals offered through SSO give children who rely on
school meals during the academic year a good source of nutrition during
the long summer vacation. Summer meals help children return to school in
the fall ready to thrive. All sites are open Monday-Thursday only. For a full

More than 8,000 CFISD Class of
2019 graduates earn diplomas
Eleven Cypress-Fairbanks ISD high schools held graduation
ceremonies at the Berry Center May 29-June 1, 2019 producing 8,270
graduates for the Class of 2019. Each ceremony included remarks and
addresses by school principals and selected student representatives
from each graduating class. Senior choir ensemble members sang
the national anthem and Air Force Junior ROTC members presented
the colors prior to each ceremony. While the Berry Center had 66,967
attendees for the commencement exercises, thousands of others
watched online via Livestream and Facebook Live. Both platforms
generated nearly 46,000 views. Livestream had 19,214 views and
Facebook Live had 26,878 views across all 11 ceremonies. Jersey
Village High School’s ceremony had the most views, with nearly 8,000
across both platforms. The 2018-2019 school year marked the 12 th
year for graduation ceremonies to be streamed live for the public.

Berry Center employees donate more than 1,000 items to food pantry
Thirty-one Berry Center staff members, along with the community engagement department, donated approximately 1,200 non-perishable food items
to the CFISD Food Pantry on June 4 th . After hearing the pantry was opening for the summer, Beth Wade, director of the Berry Center, challenged her
employees to donate $15 each to help buy food items.
Wade said she was very pleased with the response but was impressed with one staff member in particular. “Terri Tyler on our building service crew
told her friends and neighbors about what we were doing and was able to collect $210,” Wade said.
The donations were delivered to the CFISD Food Pantry, located at Campbell Middle School and will benefit families in the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
community.

Freezer Caramel Drizzle Pie
You could make this on National Junk Food Day July 21st!
INGREDIENTS:
2 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crusts
6 tablespoons butter
1 (7 ounce) package shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (16 ounce) container frozen
whipped topping, thawed
1 (12 ounce) jar caramel ice cream topping
DIRECTIONS:
Place butter in a medium skillet and melt over medium heat. Add
coconut and pecans, stirring to coat. Saute until coconut and
pecans are lightly toasted, about 5 minutes. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whip together condensed milk and cream
cheese until fluffy. Fold in whipped topping. Spoon 1/4 of cream
cheese mixture into each graham cracker crust. Drizzle each with
1/4 of caramel topping. Repeat layers with remaining cream
cheese mixture and caramel. Top each pie with coconut and
pecan mixture. Freeze overnight.

INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup heavy cream
3 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons white sugar, divided
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Whisk 3 tablespoons
sugar and cream in a microwave-safe bowl until well combined; heat
the mixture in microwave until warm, 1 to 2 minutes and whisk again
to dissolve sugar. Whisk in egg yolks and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour cream mixture into 2 ramekins. Set ramekins into a roasting
pan and pour in enough hot water to reach halfway up the sides of
the ramekins. Bake in the preheated oven until creme desserts are
set but still slightly jiggly when shaken, about 50 minutes. Remove
ramekins from hot water and chill in refrigerator until cold, at least
2 hours. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar evenly over the top of each
dessert. Use a kitchen torch to lightly toast and melt the sugar
topping until brown and bubbly, about 30 seconds. Let the sugar
topping cool before serving. To serve, use a spoon to crack the crisp
sugar open to reveal the creamy dessert underneath. Source: http://

spring annuals have bloomed out. Set
our seeds like zinnia, marigold, cosmos,
petunia and portulaca so you’ll have color
until frost. Don’t let seedlings dry out.
• In summer, prune roses to keep them
in shape. Continue black spot and insect
treatments. Water 2” once per week.
• Remove spent crepe myrtle flowers to
prolong bloom production.
• Weeds rob plants of valuable water,
nutrients--remove them.
• Great sun/heat-lovers include coral
honeysuckle, coreopsis, lantana,
oleanders and hamelia.
