Fun for all the family
this summer in Derby!
There’s plenty to do in Derby this summer,
from Markeaton Park to Derby Arena,
there’s something for everyone. Keep
active at Derby Arena, Springwood
Leisure Centre and Moorways Stadium
with multi-sport activity camps running
throughout the summer. Challenge your
friends with Float Run Splash at Queen’s
Leisure Centre, or duck, dodge and dive
your way through a game of dodgeball
at Springwood Leisure Centre. Why
not join the Babbling Vagabonds on a
theatrical wild walk in Markeaton Park with
Here Be Dragons!? Put on your favourite
superhero outfit, grab your picnic basket,
and come on down to Derby Parks for the
free Superhero Picnic in the Park events
in Markeaton, Chaddesden, and Darley
Park! Launch yourself into the Space Race
Summer Reading Challenge, with plenty
of fun events happening at Riverside,
Alvaston and Mickleover Libraries. Don’t
forget to bring your picnic for the final day
of summer fun at The Hannells Darley Park
Concert.

National Memorial Arboretum
This summer, take a trip the
National Memorial Arboretum to
discover the vital contributions of
men and women from across the
Commonwealth who contributed
towards the WWII campaigns
of 1944. Enter the immersive SOE
Training Base to experience how
the Special Operations Executives
gained their skills, before
undertaking a secret mission around
the Arboretum with the Secret
Spy Backpacks, perfect for
younger visitors who can
solve clues to help the ‘war
effort’. During your visit, why
not also take the chance
to add to the Arboretum’s
outdoor art installation,
D-Day: Vessels of Victory.

The pirates return to Peak!
Just when you thought it was safe!
Those pesky plundering pirates return
to Peak Shopping Village on Sunday
28th July for more swashbuckling
fun and games, more irreverent
interactive entertainment and more
nautical nonsense than you can shake
a seal at!
Peak Shopping Village hosts several
fun family events throughout the year
and are delighted to announce the
return of the Plundering Pirates for
what promises to be another amazing
day of fun and frolics for all the family.
Expect music, dance and variety
entertainment, tall tales of the high
seas and treasure hunting pirates!
and the servicemen aboard,
involved in Operation Neptune, will
be decorated and placed in the
grounds of the Arboretum.
The Arboretum is free to enter and
open daily 9am – 5pm. For more
