SECURITY At Puffin’s we aim to provide a place that has the highest safety standards at all times. The entrance to the building is fitted with a high security coded system. The code allows the parents into the entrance porch only. Visual identification must then be made via the video phone before any visitors are allowed to enter the premises. OUR TEAM The Puffin’s team have a broad range of knowledge, skills and experience. The majority of our team hold a qualified status (NVQ3 or equivalent) and those who are not currently qualified are working towards their qualification. We continue to provide all members of the team with diverse training opportunities, allowing them to grow as an individual and a practitioner and continue to achieve improvement. At Puffin’s we aim to employ a higher number of staff than the requirements set by Ofsted for the staff to children ratios. This allows us to provide the children in our care with a greater amount of individual attention. All members of the team hold a current Paediatric First Aid qualification and are subject to police, health and reference checks.
WORKING TOGETHER At Puffin’s we work hard to ensure that we build a relationship with both the child and with parents, allowing us to work together to support the child through their learning and development and provide a diverse range of opportunities. We feel that good communication is key and encourage parents to feel welcome into the Pre-School at any time to discuss any issues relating to their child or the Pre-School. We will always operate an open-door policy to all parents. Each child is assigned to a key person who has a responsibility to monitor the child’s progress, maintain development records and plan and provide stimulating activities to encourage the child’s development. We will hold regular parent’s evenings which will give you, the parent, the chance to sit down and discuss your child and their development with their key person. Keeping the parents well informed is essential for us to provide the highest quality of care possible. General notices will be displayed in the Pre-School, a weekly newsletter is distributed, and we will communicate face-to-face, via telephone and email where necessary. Parents are also invited to attend open and information evenings throughout the year. MEAL TIME At Puffin’s we provide Breakfast, Lunch and Tea, as well as a healthy snack in the morning. All of our meals are prepared on site using fresh produce. We always use free-range eggs and organic milk. We believe that it is paramount for us to encourage all children to eat well, enjoy a varied diet and build healthy eating habits to continue into years to come. We cater for all dietary requirements and allergies; please let us know of any. We also do weekly cooking activities to encourage the children to learn about food and the benefits of a healthy diet.
