Seashell is Norway’s leading producer of wild scallops, handpicked by
our own employed divers. We have three boat teams with professional
divers that work for us year-round.
The coastline of Frøya, with its 4500 holms and skerries, offers
Norway’s best areas for wild scallops. We catch only large
scallops from depths between 10 and 30 meters, as this allows
nature the potential for good growth recovery. Since the shellfish are
hand-picked, those we catch are of high quality and vitality and the
production is sustainable. There is no damage done to environment
or products during the harvesting process.
At the island Frøya off the west coast of Norway there
is a fleet of small day catch fishing vessels landing
their daily catch to our packing facilities.
The fishermen are using angling, longline and
gillnetting to bring us fresh high quality fish from
healthy sustainable stocks. We are quality controlling,
size grading and are packing the fish for shipping to
our customers the same day as caught.

HANDPICKED SCALLOPS FROM SEASHELL
The company Seashell is one of the pioneers in Norwegian
King Scallops industry, the company was founded in 1995 and
the business plan was to introduce “new” products from the
cold clear waters outside the island Frøya at the coast of mid
Norway. Seashell is the largest producer of Handpicked King
Scallops in Norway, and puts a lot of effort into quality and
logistics for their customers. Seashell has a fleet of three diving
boats whit a total of 15 commercial divers handpicking the King
Scallops to meet the request from our national and international
customer throughout the year. We believe that our handpicked,
sustainable, high quality King Scallops have a great future in the
European marked.
The Norwegian King Scallops is a “young” product and the first
King Scallops was exported from Norway in the mid 90’s. The
exported volumes and popularity of the product has increased
every year. One of the most important aspects for Norwegian
scallops producers are to insure a sustainable harvesting
and that the quality and vitality is superb on every delivery of
this product. The main reason for this is that no dredging for
scallops are done, only handpicking is allowed for King Scallops
harvesting in Norway.
BOCUSE D’OR
Norwegian King Scallops is the official seafood product for the
Bocuse d’Or 2009 – the most prestigious culinary competition
in the world. This is the second time Norwegian King Scallops
(Pecten Maximus) is the official product for the Bocuse d’Or
competition (1999). This confirms our trust in our fantastic
product - the best scallops in the world...
