MCM Iqbal – ATES (Tamil

A group 50 people. It aims to
help battle loneliness, with
elders typically being alone all
day. It Provides social meetings
and aims to build bridges in the
community. They regularly have
specialist speakers.

Helping with dementia and
battling isolation and loneliness.
Julianna Kaldi-Hegiji –
Hungarian Community of
Southend
This project was started 5 years
ago. It provides a community
school for 40 families. It aims
at keeping their heritage and
language alive.

Patricia Sampson – SHIP
A group of local people aimed
at rejuvenating and making
the most of Southchurch Hall
Gardens. They have recently
been given the Green Flag Award.

Borough Council
Kelly is a Community Partnership
Officer who recently worked on
the Southend 2050 project. Her

Cathy Turner - Volunteering
Matters

they have supported over 400
families in the 10 years they
have operated. One of their first
members is now a volunteer.

planning. They have Beach Clean
taking place on the 27th July
and welcome any support. SRA
