Top 5 things to
find when you go
beachcombing…
Here are some things
to look for when you go
walking along the coastline.
If you find something sharp
or come across a jellyfish,
don’t touch it! If you’re
unsure, take a photograph
and identify it when you’re
back at home.
WHELK EGG CASES
Similar looking to a lump of
bubblewrap, these now empty
egg cases have been made by
the largest sea snail in the UK!
Get drastic on plastic
Plastic waste in the environment poses such a
huge threat to wildlife because it doesn’t just
disappear; it breaks down into smaller and
smaller pieces. Animals can become trapped or
injured, and even ingest the plastic fragments in
the ocean – which can end up in our bodies too!
Here are some easy swops to help you reduce
your plastic footprint:
1. Swop liquid shampoo for a shampoo bar
- they last much longer than a bottle too!
2. Use beeswax wraps to keep food fresh
instead of clingfilm
3. Take a reusable water bottle out with you
rather than using single-use plastic ones
4. Swop plastic straws for eco-friendly paper,
bamboo or metal alternatives
