worth knowing about
The comprehensive 2020 trend display translated by trend forecasters Scarlet
Opus, a show initiative, was once again a talking point and must-see element
of the show for many.
Scarlet Opus is an international trend forecasting agency. Their experts predict
the colours, materials, textures, patterns and styes which will influence us
all in the next 18 months to 2 years. Their advice is invaluable to designers,
manufacturers and retailers seeking to ensure their products are ‘on trend’ with
consumer aspirations.
Complementing the trend display
were the four fully booked Trend Tours
- taken up by several independents,
major retailers and journalists.
SATORI
A Japanese word that refers to the
experience of seeing into one’s
true nature. This trend encourages
consumers to find a natural rhythm
and balance in their lifestyles in
order to cope with the complexities
of modern life and the distractions
of the online world. During the
Summer of 2020, the Tokyo
Olympics will focus attention on
Japanese arts, crafts, design and
food. Japanese traditions can teach
us so much about slowing down,
exercising restraint and living in the
moment.
Phil Pond adds a comment about his time with Exclusively:
“In 2019, the trend-inspired features included a seminar each
day, a Trend Hub Showcase (of 83 exhibitor products) displayed to
inspire experiential merchandising, a mock shop window in the style
of Christmas 2019 and an exclusive Trend Tour of just six selected
exhibitor stands for groups of visitors.
“In 2019, more than 500 visitors came to see the trend features, including
teams from several of the country’s biggest housewares & SDA retailers,
journalists from the best-known consumer blogs/magazines/papers and
online publications, and a myriad of independent retailers.
“In 2019, 11 visitors spent more than an hour taking in the Trend Hub Showcase,
and less than a handful of visitors spent less than 15 minutes with us.
“Exclusively is a stylish, fun, welcoming, positive and informative event at
which manufacturers, retailers, the press and supporters of the industry
meet, each playing their part in making the industry stronger and more
prosperous for all.
“We are very proud to be a part of this show’s phenomenal progress.”
