WEEKEND OF<br />

SEAFOOD DELIGHTS<br />

The annual Lymington Seafood Festival is<br />

gearing up for a weekend of gastronomic<br />

delights with over 90 local artisan producers,<br />

live music and some of the region’s top chefs in<br />

the demonstration kitchen. With its stunning<br />

Solent backdrop, Bath Road Park hosts the free<br />

two-day festival which takes place on Saturday<br />

10 th and Sunday 11 th <strong>Aug</strong>ust and this year they<br />

are raising money for Lymington’s RNLI.<br />

An estimated 12,000 people attended last<br />

<strong>Aug</strong>ust and with an even greater array of<br />

seafood stalls set to attend there’s plenty to get<br />

those taste buds excited about! Gin lovers can<br />

gravitate towards the Conker Spirit Bar or<br />

perhaps a glass or two of Exton Park’s award<br />

winning English sparkling wine? The Portsmouth<br />

Distillery Company will be unveiling their newly<br />

crafted local rums and Ringwood Brewery on<br />

hand for all ale lovers.<br />

The demonstration kitchen will once again be<br />

led by ‘God Father of Seafood’, Chef Patron Alex<br />

Aitken from the Jetty in Christchurch. He’ll be<br />

will be joined by a dazzling line-up of talented<br />

chefs including Matthew Whitfield who has<br />

recently taken up the reins at the Montagu<br />

Arms, Luke Matthews from Chewton Glen and<br />

Gordleton Mill’s head chef, Ian Gibbs. The<br />

festival also welcomes back 2016 Masterchef<br />

winner Jane Devonshire.<br />

With over 150 different dishes including lobster<br />

mac n’cheese, scallops, cockle popcorn, soft<br />

shell crab, shrimp burgers, mackerel, gurnard<br />

and oysters…..there’s no chance of leaving<br />

hungry! With live music across the weekend<br />

including soul, blues, rag-time, pop and rock<br />

classics to get the crowds up dancing. All set to<br />

magnificent views across the Solent estuary the<br />

weekend is becoming one of the south coast’s<br />

leading festival for foodies.<br />

Gate open 11am – 8pm Saturday and 11am –<br />

6pm Sunday. Parking is available at Woodside<br />

Park, about 15-20mins walk to Bath Road and is<br />

£5 all day.<br />
