…a word from our President!
It is beginning to sound like a broken record;
however, I am concerned about the low number of
runs we have had this year and the apparent lack of
interest a good many club members have in planning
and conducting runs. Fortunately, this year we have
had some of our members, who had not previously
participated in planning activities, step to the
forefront and put forth a real effort to carry out well
planned fun activities for the good of the
membership. To those folks, once again, on behalf of
CVC, a big THANK YOU. If you look back over time at
the runs the club has had, and the folks who were
the run leaders, you can pretty readily see that a lot
of the same people, year after year, have been
responsible for the bulk of CVC activities. I believe a
good many of those members are tired of
shouldering the work it takes to plan and conduct a
run (especially multi-day runs) and that is why we
don’t have the numbers we have had in the past.
AGAIN, I want to encourage members who have
never been involved with putting on a run to “jump
in” and give it a try! As we have stated in the past, if
you are unsure as to how to proceed, we have
written guidelines regarding conducting a run and we
have members who have had a multitude of
experience who would be willing to provide advice
and assistance. I am afraid that if we experience
fewer and fewer activities from year to year, we will
begin to see a drop in club membership and that is
not a goal we want to ascribe to! Just attending
meetings will get boring after a time!
As of this writing, we have only two runs scheduled
for August (not counting Charlie’s run to the
Corvette Museum). Jeff and Stephanie are leading
a mystery lunch run on Saturday, August 10th, and
Ruthie and I are leading a lunch run the following
Saturday to Harris Ranch. Regarding Charlie’s run, I
know he has worked long and hard to make his trip
successful and the people participating will surely
have a great time.
Thank you to all the members who voted at the July
meeting to contribute $2,000 to the Pediatric ICU at
Valley Children’s Hospital. That contribution will be
presented to Ed Dena at his Happy Hearts Car Show
at his dealership in Dinuba on September 7th. If you
have not signed up to participate in the show and
you don’t have something important keeping you
from being there, please show your appreciation of
Ed’s sponsorship and go. WE NEED TO HAVE A
GOOD TURN OUT. WE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR
SPONSOR! Save the Wave!
