The Department of Trade and Industry’s Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau continues to increase its
drive in promoting the general welfare of consumers and in ensuring that their rights are
protected, thus has stepped up its visibility in monitoring and enforcing compliance by businesses
with DTI rules and regulation, particularly on product standards.

Ensuring the product quality for consumer safety, FTEB intensifies its enforcement to ensure
compliance with technical regulations pursuant to adopted Philippine National Standards.

FTEB has strengthened its drive in monitoring the prices and supply of Basic Necessities
and Prime Commodities which includes extending assistance to the Department of
Agriculture in monitoring some agricultural products.

On June 24, a videophone facility is made available to serve costumers with concerns
regarding their PLDT, Smart, Sun, and TNT accounts. It will be stationed in the DTI-FTEB’s
Mediation Division and a customer care personnel from PLDT-SMART will be on standby to
receive video calls from customers for faster resolution of their complaints.
This service is aligned with the DTI’s mandate to provide information to consumers to
facilitate sound choice and the proper exercise of their rights.

In time for the opening of the academic year 2019-2020,
the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its
Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) began its
strengthened monitoring on the supply and prices of
School Supplies in Metro Manila on the first week of May
until the end of June 2019.
