CREATIVITY

We were created by God 

to be creative. For 

us to understand 

this statement 

and to understand that God has 

literally wired creativity into our 

DNA, let’s imagine our planet 

from the days of Adam. When 

God created Adam and Eve and 

put them on this planet, there 

were no houses, no modes of 

transport, no electricity, nothing 

except a planet pregnant with 

possibilities. Fast forward to today 

and witness mankind’s many great 

achievements. 

Skyscrapers, scientific and 

technological advancements,

uildings of amazing designs, 

and unusual architectural and 

engineering feats have been 

achieved. 

Creative capability runs in our 

veins. We all have it. It comes in 

different shapes, sizes and styles. 

Some people write, while others, 

sing, paint, cook, design, sew, 

carve, build and much more. We 

all have an irresistible, divinely 

inspired impulse to create, to 

fashion and to organise. 

WHAT IS CREATIVITY? 

Creativity is simply our ability to 

make something that did not exist 

before; it’s to do things in a new 

way. 

“bereshit barah Elohim” this is the 

opening statement of the book of 

Genesis in Hebrew and it means, 

“In the beginning, Elohim God 

created out of nothing.” 

The opening statement of the 

Bible gives an account of the 

creation. In the beginning, God 

created the heavens and the 

earth out of nothing. This very 

statement totally contradicts 

every argument of evolutionary 

science. 

Evolutionary 

science argues 

that mankind 

evolved from a 

lower form to the 

other and that we 

are here because 

of the survival of 

the fittest. 

On the contrary, 

the scriptures 

make it known 

that everything 

God created was by fiat and was 

perfect at its time of arrival. 

The scriptures say that when God 

looked at His creation, it was the 

best and in its fullest form and 

therefore He said it was good. 

God’s process of creation started 

by Him speaking the universe 

into existence. His creative ability 

reveals His person to us: Romans 

1:20 “For since the creation of the 

world His invisible attributes are 

clearly seen, being understood 

by the things 

that are 

made, even 

His eternal 

power and 

Godhead, 

so that they 

are without 

excuse,” 

God’s 

creative skill 

and design is 

shown in the 

universe that 

surrounds us. 

Isaiah 45:18 

- “For thus says the Lord, Who 

created the heavens, Who is God, 

Who formed the earth and made 

it, Who has established it, Who 

did not create it in vain, Who 

formed it to be inhabited: “I am 

the Lord, and there is no other.” 

We see design and purpose in 

everything He did. Some of His 

purposes may not be immediately 

obvious to mankind but 

everything has a purpose. 

MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD 

There is an absolute 

synchronisation in the process 

of God’s creativity. Nothing was 

made out of place. Even the 

human body is a wonder of God’s 

creativity and if we look beyond 

our bodies and into the world of 

nature we would be amazed at 

the capacity, creativity and variety 

of God’s work. The creative God 

left His signature in every corner 

of our universe and particularly on 

our planet. 

When God made man on the 

sixth day, He fashioned him by 

His own creative hands. Man was 

the finality of creation and he was 

came out of an agreement of the 

Trinity. 

Genesis 1:26 - “Then God said, 

“Let Us make man in Our image, 

according to Our likeness; let 

them have dominion over the fish 



of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the 

cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping 

thing that creeps on the earth.”” 

Once created Adam lay on the ground lifeless. The 

outer shell, his body, was formed, he had eyes that 

could not see, ears that could not hear, lungs that 

could not breathe and a heart that did not beat. 

Then God breathed into his nostrils the breath of 

life and man became a living being. 

We are creative because we are made in the image 

of the creative God. We are an extension of our 

Maker. 

EXPRESSING CREATIVITY 

Creativity happens when we refuse to judge 

ourselves, stop doing the regular things and step 

outside of the box. 

Oftentimes we remain inside the box we want to 

be safe and accepted. We are comfortable with the 

regular. 

STEPPING OUTSIDE OF THE BOX OF LIMITATIONS 

What are the mechanisms that get you out of the 

box and into the world of creativity? 

Several points will be suggested here, and they are 

by no means exhaustive. 

1. Think outside the box. Value long thinking and 

judge ideas by how they fit as an ensemble, not 

just individually. This whole process will require 

a lot of patience, particularly if you are used to a 

particular way of thinking and operating. 

2. Realise that there is no correct answer but an 

alternative approach to every matter. What you 

do may seem absurd but do it. It seemed absurd 

when the Wright brothers began their attempts 

to fly in 1904. Some argued that if God had 

meant for man to fly, He would have given him 

wings. Today, we benefit from their creative 

exploits. 

3. Look for what causes constraints 

4. Try simple thinking. Creativity does not have to 

be the impossible and the difficult. 

5. The obvious answer may just be the one we 

never thought about. 

6. Be willing to borrow ideas from others 

7. Finish before you lose the zeal. How many people 

have had unusual ideas, real creative concepts 

but became complacent and don’t pursue their 

idea? Fix timelines to achieve what you want to 

do. Do it now. Do not wait for perfect timing 

8. Stay curious about everything Children are 

creative because they are curious. They yearn for 

answers, question everything and want to know 

‘why?’. Curiosity stimulates the brain of children 

and makes them more creative. Have a child-like 

approach to life, question almost everything and 

discover things previously hidden. 

BE PATIENT 

Step-by-step methods for being creative need to be 

explored. Start thinking and write what pops up in 

your mind, take notes and expand the picture you 

see. Take your time because new ideas can crop up 

in the subconscious. 

Creativity is not only about inventions. It is also 

about conceptions, imotivational ideas and personal 

acumen. It’s about the seeing things from anew 

angles and using different strategies. 

If one method does not work, try another one. Do 

not box yourself in. Remember that it is exploration 

that will lead to experiment. Do not be afraid of 

being wrong. 

When the Body of Christ discovers, develops, 

deploys and demonstrates its creative edge we 

can tap into all the resources we need for global 

evangelism.

Capacity is the ability to 

receive or contain; it is 

the maximum amount 

or number that can be 

received or contained. Your capacity 

is an indication of what you can 

receive, hold or absorb. It is a 

measure of ability and performance. 

Your capacity reflects your innate 

potential for growth, development 

or accomplishment. 

Increasing your capacity is 

therefore: 

• To augment your gift to become 

greater in the things you are called 

to do 

• To multiply by propagation 

• The ability to perform a given 

task with the highest intensity and 

magnification 

The problem with our performance 

is that what we are doing today, is 

a fraction of what God can enable 

us to do. This is why we need to ask 

God to increase our capacity. 

God Himself has no pro 

blem increasing our anointing and 

capacity; the problem lies in our 

ability to receive what we are asking 

for. 

This is illustrated in the story of the 

widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 and in the 

life of Peter in Luke 5:1-11. 

In these two illustrations the 

problem was not in the supply but 

in the container to receive it. God 

never runs out of the supply to 

increase our capacity. It is man who 

always runs out of the container to 

receive what is being supplied. 

WHY INCREASE YOUR CAPACITY? 

When you reach full capacity 

anything else you receive pours out 

and goes to waste. 

However, you determine your 

capacity to receive. To prevent 

waste, you must increase in your 

capacity to receive. God wants you 

to receive all that He has but you 

must make room. It is the duty of 

men to develop their capacity. 

HOW TO ACQUIRE CAPACITY 

Jesus teaches us in the scripture 

below on how to increase our 

capacity: 

Matthew 7:7-8 

“Ask, and it will be given to you; 

seek, and you will find; knock, and it 

will be opened to you. For everyone 

who asks receives, and he who 

seeks finds, and to him who knocks 

it will be opened. 

To ask is to inquire, desire, request, 

demand and call for. 





Follow your 

Dreams 


Upholding your dreams is your way of fighting the 

‘realities’ of life when they don’t seem to endorse the 

desires of your heart.Don’t shelf your dreams, keep 

them alive. Pursue them. Write them down. Follow 

your dream. Visualise your dream. 

Remember …. 

1. Dreams are pathways to self-discovery and self-discovery is a 

pathway to fulfilment. 

2. The dreams of a man reflect unborn creativity and unreleased 

potential. 

3. A mentor will help you fulfil your dream 

4. Value, visualise and verbalise your dreams 

5. To maximise your dreams you must learn how to say no 

without feeling guilty 

6. The ability to walk away from momentary gratification is 

necessary to qualify you for the lasting glory of your dream 

7. Stand under attack. When you are close to the fulfilment of 

your dream, false accusation and character assassination mayl 

be raised against you. This is an indication that you are close 

to your promotion. 

8. True and lasting success is given from above. 

9. Forgive others. If you do not know how to give forgiveness, 

you burn the bridge upon which you will one day have to 

travel. 

10. Make up your mind not to wallow in the pit of self-pity and 

fulfil your enemy’s prophecy. God will plant you in the midst 

of circumstances that will bring out your true potential. 

11. Adversity is necessary in the realisation of your dream because 

it will expose friends from foes and true brothers from strange 

relations. 

12. The size of your dream and the fulfilment of it must not be 

dictated by people’s reactions to you. 

13. Never adjust the colour and size of your dream to please 

people who have made themselves your enemy. 

14. You are a summary of your own dream. 

15. Let your dream inspire your life and follow where it takes you 

16. Men can take your coat of many colours but they cannot take 

your dream. 

17. You will continue to be unhappy until you follow your dream. 

18. Live your dreams now – the right time may never come 

19. God will deliberately assign people to provoke you so that 

your dream will become a blessing 

It’s impossible to achieve anything unless you have faith in God 

and confidence in the giftings He has deposited in you.

Maximising your life is achieved 

over a lifetime; it doesn’t just 

happen in a single day. God 

issues 24 golden hours to 

each one of us and expects us to maximise 

each hour. 

It’s the way that we manage the seconds, 

minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and 

years that determines if we truly maximise 

the opportunities given to us. Each fresh 

day is either an investment or a waste. 

1. MAKE AN INVESTMENT 

In order to maximise life we must make an 

investment. 

1. Invest in yourself 

If you don’t believe in you, you cannot make 

me believe in you. The first and greatest 

investment is the one you make in yourself 

and it is shown in your actions, words and 

the management of your time. 

The right investment in yourself starts with: 

A desperation to do the right thing 

A determination to succeed 

The courage to face challenges 

Maintaining a holy ambition to succeed 

Having great expectations 

2. INVEST IN CHAMPIONS 

You must invest in champions as are the 

people who stretch your faith and challenge 

you to rise and be like them.

Real champions, true champions are the 

people who never leave you the same way 

they met you. They make you a better 

person. 

Who was the first champion in your life? 

not have been apparent to you at the time 

of your growth because a champion never 

sides with you but rather works hard to 

bring out your potential. 

Champions encourage you and help you 

to take a giant leap. Some Champions may 

not be men and women you encounter 

personally, you may inspired by their 

books, blogs or podcasts. 

3. INVEST IN RELATIONSHIPS 

True success is a network of relationships. 

It is said that you are only four contacts 

away from the person you want to meet. 

So if you do not invest in relationships you 

cannot have true success. 

4. FORGET THE PAST 

You cannot go forward looking backwards. 

If you must build relationships you will 

have to understand that as long as you live 

in this world people might hurt or offend 

you. No one builds great relationships by 

holding onto the past. Let the past stay 

where it is. Don’t bring it into today. 

5. INVEST IN GOD 

Maximise life by using your time to 

serve, use your talent to bless others and 

your treasure to make God’s Kingdom 

progressive. 

God is worth investing in because He 

invested in you first. He loved you first 

and if you were the only one on earth He 

would die for you all over again. 

A maximised life means knowing that God 

understands and answers our prayers, 

even when we do not have enough words 

to describe what is on our heart. 

A maximised life is finding what God wants 

you to be and pursuing that precisely. 

You must recognise that you cannot 

fix anything but with God all things are 

possible. 

Every time I think of a maximised life, 

the picture that comes to mind is fossil 

fuel. When it’s put under pressure 

several products emanate from this 

black substance. Some of the derivatives 

are: petroleum gas, lubricants, asphalt, 

kerosene, petroleum, aviation fuel, tar, 

diesel, waxes and polymer to produce 

plastics. 

Just as we have succeeded in putting 

pressure on fossil fuel and maximising the 

benefits for our optimum use, God has 

also given you a life that He wants you to 

live and maximise. In order to maximise 

your life you can use today’s advantage to 

buy tomorrow’s opportunity. 

WHAT IS OPPORTUNITY? 

An opportunity is when you find a problem 

and solve it. The problem you solve will 

determine your progress.

To seek is to endeavour, require, investigate, ransack, 

search out, explore, and track down 

To knock is to persist, hit at, swipe, and strike 

There is a sequence of intensity in what Jesus said. True 

value is acquired through exploration and discovery. 

However, there is a more violent, persistent, stronger 

sense of urgency to increase capacity. 

It comes by challenging your current situation and 

expanding your perspective. This requires seeing things 

differently. You cannot change what you are comfortable 

with. 

Where you are stationed determines what you see. 

To change your perspective you must change your 

location. You also need to: 

• Have an eye for discerning the genuine from imitation 

• Set new models and accept that some of your old 

models may be faulty. 

• Develop significant relationships. It says in 

Jeremiah 12:5: “If you have run with the footmen, and 

they have wearied you, then how can you contend with 

horses? And if in the land of peace, in which you trusted, 

they wearied you, then how will you do in the floodplain 

of the Jordan? There is a season to run with footmen. 

There is a season to contend with horses. 

We must start at the footmen level. 

Capacity building for a higher level of success is 

determined by victory at the lower level. An example of 

this is seen in the relationship of Elisha and Elijah in 2 

Kings 2:9-13. Elisha reflects a man of intense focus, who 

had a desire to increase his capacity. He also had: 

• The power of sacrifice – he gave up all he had 

• An ability to withstand discomfort 

• Humility – he served with joy 

• Ambition – he wanted more 

This grace of combining humility and ambition is a 

unique source of power; a unique source of increasing 

capacity. Elisha also exhibited: 

• Determination – he overcame opposition 

• Focus – he kept his eyes fixed 

The world is being redefined. Science is changing things. 

The Church cannot stay silent; neither can it run as if it 

is hooked into the past. In order for you and I to make a 

global difference we will need to: 

• Increase our capacity 

• Cross the boundaries 

• Teach people to think and become giants for God 

• Get believers ready for achieving dominance in our 

world 

• Teach people to own businesses, airlines, banks, 

universities. The result is that we will raise a generation 

of people who will 

Break the boundaries: 

“I will go before thee, and make the crooked places 

straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut 

in sunder the bars of iron” Psalm 107:16 

Break forward: 

“Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and 

from there it parted and became four riverheads. The 

name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the 

whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 

And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx 

stone are there. The name of the second river is Gihon; 

it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush. 

The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one 

which goes toward the east of Assyria. 

The fourth river is the Euphrates.” Genesis 2:10-14 

Break through: 

“So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated 

them. He said, “As waters break out, the LORD has 

broken out against my enemies before me.” So that place 

was called Baal Perazim.” 2 Samuel 5:20 

Break out: 

“And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath 

sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which 

he promised to give unto thy fathers; If thou shalt keep 

all these commandments to do them, which I command 

thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk 

ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more 

for thee, beside these three.” Deuteronomy 19:8-9
