Title Seminar NCADA Fall Title Seminar Draws Large Crowd NCADA Fall 2018 Title Seminar was held on September 11, 2018 at the Sheraton Imperial in Durham. The training staff from the DMV did an excellent job in reviewing laws and regulations, document submission, lost titles and many other hot topics facing vehicle titling. Many thanks to the DMV's Troy Cunningham and Christopher Stilley, as well as Lieutenant Matt Nies of the License & Theft Dealer Unit, for preparing such an excellent and informative program. If you were unable to attend the Seminar, or would like additional copies of the 2018 Title Administrator Guide for your office, please contact NCADA. The next Title Administrator Seminar will be held in Spring 2019. NCADA will provide details of the date, location and content of this very popular seminar in the coming months. Legal Seminar NCADA Hosts Legal Seminar in Greensboro The 2018 NCADA Legal Seminar was recently held in Greensboro on October 17, providing NCADA members with an important update on the many legal, regulatory, and legislative issues facing our industry. Among the topics discussed were hot button issues such as the new “Title in Transit” process effective January 1, consumer finance issues, important regulatory changes impacting dealers, and new franchise laws overview. Joining NCADA’s legal team of John Policastro, Shawn Mercer, and Richard Vinegar, in this year’s program were Lt. Matt Nies of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, and Janice Davidson of the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Lt. Nies addressed the seminar with a helpful and well-received update on DMV enforcement efforts and dealer regulation issues, while Ms. Davidson provided a “primer” on key sales tax areas for dealers. Attendees also heard from Julia Dixon, legal counsel for First Benefits Insurance Mutual – NCADA’s new strategic partner for dealership workers’ compensation insurance. Ms. Dixon outlined important parts of North Carolina’s workers’ compensation law with a focus on franchised dealers. With so many issues impacting franchised dealers, the NCADA Legal Seminar is held each year to assist our dealer members in navigating through a complex and challenging legal and regulatory environment.
