Free Water Irrigation
System Evaluation
Any homeowner in MUD 50 can get a FREE evaluation of their irrigation/
sprinkler system. There’s a program being offered by your water supplier
and the North Fort Bend Water Authority! You are invited to sign up today
for the FREE evaluation by a licensed irrigator… The W.I.S.E Guys. There
is no obligation on a homeowner’s part to purchase anything. You have
nothing to lose, but you could learn a lot. You will be provided with a
comprehensive evaluation of your system - checking the water patterns
of your sprinklers and frequency settings of the controller. You will have
access to the results on-line to help you learn how to use water more
efficiently on yard and landscaped areas. That’s it…no pressure… you
decide how to use the information. Why waste any more water… or
money? Make an appointment now! Look for the details on-line at: www.
nfbwa.com/wiseguys
Keeping Informed!
Please sign up through the community portal at https://ciranet.com/
ResidentPortal, join our Facebook page at Parkway Lakes for the most
current information about our community. Those of you who have
already volunteered to participate in the future will be contacted shortly
to plan upcoming events. Those of you who have yet to do so, please
come to any future meeting being announced and join in!
Neighborhood/Crime Watch
We can all participate in our Neighborhood/Crime Watch! It is easy! It’s
about neighbors looking out for each other.
When suspecting criminal activities, you are encouraged to contact the
police and not to intervene. Call Fort Bend Sheriff at 281-341-4665. An
alert and supportive neighborhood is the greatest single defense against
crime. By getting to know your neighbors and their vehicles, you will
most likely be aware of suspicious people, vehicles and/or sounds that
could indicate criminal activity. Be a good neighbor. Report suspicious
activity to the police.
Attention! Pet Poops / You Scoop
Please be respectful of community grounds and neighbors’ yards. If your
pet poops during your walk, be prepared to scoop and trash. Come with
a scooper and a recycled grocery bag or anything else. It may not be the
most fabulous way to walk your pet, but it does show your respect for
every homeowner and our beautiful community.
Please Note - Pets On Leashes
It is the law in Fort Bend County that all pets must be vaccinated for
rabies, registered and restrained. All animals, when outside of an owner’s
means of restraint (i.e., in a fenced back yard), must be on a leash. For the
safety of all residents, please use all precautions with your pets and
keep them on leashes when walking pets in the community EVEN IF
YOU FEEL YOUR PET IS HARMLESS. If you see ANY animal roaming freely
in the neighborhood, immediately call Animal Control at 281-342-1512.
Even if you recognize the animal, be very careful approaching it, as you
do not know how it will react; if you can safely retrieve the animal, then
call the owner. Otherwise, Animal Control is your best and safest option.
WE’RE GIRL SCOUTS OF THE USA
We’re 2.5 million strong-more than 1.7 million girls and 750,000 adults who believe
in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) to change
the world. Nationally, our extraordinary journey began more than 100 years ago with
the original G.I.R.L., Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. On March 12, 1912, in Savannah,
Georgia, she organized the very first Girl Scout troop and every year since, we’ve
honored her vision and legacy, building girls of courage, confidence and character
who make the world a better place. Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting
locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, a United Way agency, is one of the
largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving more than 53,000 girl members
and 17,000 adults in 26 southeast Texas counties. We’re the preeminent leadership
development organization for girls and we offer every girl a chance to practice a
lifetime of leadership, adventure and success. To volunteer, reconnect, donate or
KATY AREA CHAMBER LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE
In line with its focus on supporting business and community, the Katy
Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website. The new
website - at www.katychamber.com - is centered around easy access to
information so that visitors can navigate easily to the information they
want and need.
“The Katy Area has a healthy business climate, thriving communities
and an excellent quality of life” Matthew Ferraro, Katy Area Chamber
President, said. “Our new website highlights what the Katy Area
Chamber is doing to promote and support these things. It can do a lot,
join the Chamber; renew your membership; learn about getting involved;
learn about our programs; calendar of events; find job openings from
members; show member to member deals; find your local elected
officials; contact chamber staff and much, much more.”
In addition to the many things members can do, the Chamber will use the
new website much more frequently to communicate with businesses and
communities as well as conduct Chamber business. For more information
about the Katy Area Chamber or its new website, please contact Matthew
Ferraro, Katy Area Chamber President/CEO, at 281-391-5289.
NATIONAL COURTESY MONTH
It takes little effort to extend kindness. The entire month of September
gives ample opportunity to practice being kind. It’s National Courtesy
Month! The word courteous comes from the Middle English word
‘kindness,’ which means ‘noble deeds’ or ‘courtesy.’ One of the greatest
novelists in the English Language, Henry James, once said: “Three things
in human life are important: The first is to be kind; the second is to be
kind; the third is to be kind.” So, what does it mean to be courteous?
Courtesy can mean several things to different people. To some, being
courteous means to be helpful. To others, being courteous means to be
polite and having good manners. Courtesy can be words spoken or an
action towards someone. Courtesy is about manners and respect. How
you choose to show someone courtesy is entirely up to you! A single
kind word keeps one warm for three winters - Chinese Proverb Courtesy
should never have limits for people you know. Showing a stranger
common courtesy could be the defining factor of their day. Oftentimes, a
small gesture, such as a compliment, can make a person feel appreciated.
When people are considerate to one another, a positive effect happens.
Moods improve and smiles are easily found. Starting your day with a
polite demeanor will have a ripple effect for the people you encounter!
There are so many ways to show kindness to people through courtesy.
Hold the door open for the people behind you! Mow your elderly
neighbor’s lawn! Compliment that shy person you see every day on the
bus! Above all, SMILE at everyone you meet!
