For Allie, Charlotte, Sutton, Marilyn Wilton, Vivi, and
Smith—you each surprise me year after year with your talents,
your creativity, and your very tender hearts. I love you to the
moon and back, and I pray daily that you will grow to be as “wise
as serpents and as gentle as doves” (Matthew 10:16). You will
need wisdom to get through this world safely, and gentleness
is a special strength that will keep your heart receptive to God
and to others.
What joy, laughter… I mean hilarious laughter … you have
all brought to me! What a totally unexpected delight it has been
in my later years to see how each of you mirror different parts
of your mom and dad, my babies that I nurtured from birth. I
love watching their special traits show up in each of you.
For Katie, Bennett, Chase, Evan, Henry, Kenneth, and
Allison—you have added such blessings to my life. I have called
your mothers my “bonus babies” for a reason. They welcomed
me into their hearts and homes when I married their dad, and
they have blessed every day of my life since then. You are the
blessing on top of that blessing, and you have made my life rich
beyond my wildest dreams. I love you all. You are in my prayers
and in my heart always.
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to
present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great
joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be
glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now
