continue to read as they grow? Or an author that
appeals to all the different age levels in your family?
Then you need to stop by and check out some
books by Mac Barnett! Mac is an award winning and
bestselling children’s book author who has written
books for the earliest Pre-K readers up through middle
school. Honestly, even as an adult I always enjoy
reading his stories at our Early Literacy Story Time.
They are great books! Books that can make kids laugh,
that can make kids think and even books that teach.
Here are some of the Mac Barnett books we have
available now:
Square – Square spends every day taking blocks from
a pile below the ground to a pile above the ground.
Circle thinks Square is an artistic genius. But is he
really? You can read more about Square, Circle, and
their friend Triangle in the other two books in the series.
How This Book Was Made – This book describes
the actual process to make a book but with enough
outlandishness thrown in to keep you entertained.
Who knew pirates and angry tigers could play a role in
creating books?
Sam and Dave Dig
a Hole – This awardwinning
book follows
two boys and their dog
as they, you guessed
it, dig a hole. The best
thing about this book
is that while the words
tell one story, the
pictures tell another.
The Terrible Two-
© Mac Barnett
books, this tells the tale of Miles Murphy, who is not
happy to be moving to Yawnee Valley, a sleepy town
that’s famous only for its cows. Miles was known as the
prankster at his old school, but he quickly discovers he
will have to raise his game to earn that title from the
reigning mysterious prankster in Yawnee Valley.
