GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO
WORK
Mark’s strength comes from his parents. He knew they’d support his
dreams. When the time came when he had to grow out of his pot, his
family was all in. It wasn’t long when Mark flew back to his motherland.
That was almost a decade ago. Now that he’s turning 28, a lot has
happened since then. He’s had time to spread his acting chops and to
venture into modeling. He even got his first billboard before the age of
twenty. But one thing remains, his dream to become an actor has grown
ten-fold.
“It’s been my goal to make acting a long term career. It’s always been my
dream to become an actor, since I was a kid pa,” he says with a hint of
glimmer in his eyes.
In his spare time, Mark works out to get fit. Being physically active
throughout his formative years — doing Muay Thai, free diving, playing
soccer — staying in shape is second nature.
However, to keep up with his plans, he’s had acting workshops with ABS-
CBN. This definitely helped hone his projection and confidence a lot. A
Bisaya at heart, he’s been studying Tagalog, so he’d be more fluent with
it, too. He knows nothing comes easy, and a little water and sunshine
definitely help with his steady rise.
IT’S ALL GOOD
There’s a Scottish proverb that goes something like, “its aw geed if yer
naw deed so calm doon and keep gan.”
For Mark, it’s what picks him up in times of self-doubt. When asked what
it meant, he says, “it’s all good if you’re not dead, so calm down and keep
going.
Looking back at the past several years, he realizes he’s nothing but
blessed. In fact, he was given the chance to flourish and thrive on his
own. With a family that acts as a catalyst for his personal growth and a
life-long dream that he never gave up on, his future is sure to be shining.
He knows he has a long way to go. But with the things he’d been given so
far, he makes sure to take advantage of them all. He rises to the occasion
and makes sure he exceeds expectations. Nothing like good achievement
than accepting your flaws and working around them.
As a parting gesture, the gentleman that he is, he says “ayo-ayo”, which is
Visayan for “take care”.
If good guys do come from trees, then Mark McMahon’s a fruit that
should be part of your diet. Like a plant that grows upward, his career
bends toward where the spotlight shines. His good looks, his even better
personality, and his fresh outlook in life will be the fertilizer to his budding
career.
Just a sapling amongst the forest that is show business, Mark’s
determination is evergreen and his will power blossoms. With the right
amount of exposure and an ample share of spotlight, he’d grow into the
actor we know he can be.
