Step 8
Arrive on
time
or late
It is important to arrive on time so you can get a good
spot. Ideally near the food or entrance to the toilets.
You will have a constant flow of traffic if you are
positioned in either of these spots.
If you arrive late (15 minutes maximum) it is risky, but
you may end up with a spot by the entrance, so people
will see you when they come in and again before they
leave.
Step 9 Setting up
Try to set up as quickly as possible because before you
know it, you will be swarmed by buyers wanting to know
what you have on offer.
This can be a little intimidating if you haven’t sold in
public before.
Don’t be afraid to tell them to come back once you’re all
set up. This is why strategically packing the car the night
before is so fundamental.
Step 10 Have fun
Display your fun posters/signs you prepared in step 6
Play music (not too loud) to attract people to your stall. If music is already playing at the venue
perhaps you could use a light up toy or similar to draw people in.
Display interesting and unique items for all to see this will be a talking point.
Always greet potential buyers with a smile and a morning or afternoon greeting, this breaks the
ice and makes them more likely to stay and have a look.
Hang all clothes on a rail and display in size order (this
should be done during step 7).
If you do not have use of a rail, display the clothes as neatly
as possible across the table. Get creative with it.
