On the Cover: Nikola Hawes enjoys working
alongside her husband Greg on the Historic Hawes
Farm and they include their kids in daily tasks as
much as possible. Nikola was honored to work
with the Jeremy Stoke family in designing this
year’s corn maze in honor of firefighter Jeremy,
who lost his life in the Carr Fire in Redding. Come
over to the farm and celebrate Jeremy’s life by
exploring the maze.

Crystal has three young daughters that love to
be her models when she isn’t photographing
clients. Crystal lives in Anderson, CA, where
she and her husband raise about 30 head of

It’s North State Parent’s anniversary! Each month
for the past 26 years, it’s been our mission to bring
families in the North State region the most current
information about family life, healthy parenting and
the abundance of local resources.
As we move into our 27th year of publication, it’s a
great time to recognize women in business. Many
of our readers and advertisers are moms, and our
special section, “Mamapreneurs,” honors several
of these amazing women in our communities. We
hope you’ll spend some time reading their profiles,
learning more how they meet the challenges of combining
family and business, and finding inspiration
in their work.
