Families make memories
during mother/son dance

It was a night to remember
for Frankfort moms
and the special dates who
accompanied them on the
dance floor: their young
sons, ranging from ages
3-10.
The Frankfort Park District’s
Mother-Son Football
Homecoming Dance gave
local families a chance to
make memories together
Friday, Sept. 27, at the
Founders Community Center
in Frankfort. This was
the annual dance’s fourth
year.
“We’ve done different
themes each year, such
as superheroes and Star
Wars,” said Cali DeBella,
special events coordinator
for the Frankfort Park District.
“This year we did a
football theme.”
Many of the attendees
went all out for the occasion.
Mothers and sons took
photos in front of a football
field background, and most
of the crowd wore Chicago
Bears jerseys – with a few
exceptions.
Dorothy Korbel and her
8-year-old son Davis, both
from Mokena, sported Buffalo
Bills outfits.
“My son likes the Bills
because he likes bison,”
Dorothy Korbel said,
laughing. “ … We have a
great time. It’s the one time
we can do something together
that’s special. Every
year the park district makes
it unique with the different
themes. We really have fun
getting dressed up.
It was a special night for
another mother and son
pair, Katie and Aidan Godfrey,
of Frankfort. The duo

“With Halloween coming
up, we decided to take
tonight a step further and
dress up as a zombie cheerleader
and a zombie football
player,” Katie Godfrey
explained.
