öffentlicher Orte Lateinamerikas aus ihrer Sicht zu beurteilen.
In this material, we invited experienced professionals to comment on these concepts in the Latin
American reality, bringing a new look to the complex relationship between private, public, and
professional.
JULIANA MEDEIROS
Juliana Medeiros ist Architektin und Urbanistin. Sie ist Expertin für emotionale, architektonische Markenerlebnisse,
mit einem postgradualen Studienabschluss in Marketing mit Schwerpunkten in biologischer
Psychologie, Szenografie, Trendanalyse, Detailgestaltung, Kulturanthropologie und Design Thinking und einem
Studium an der Università degli Studi in Ferrara, Italien. Hier lernte sie Architektur als Denkweise zu verstehen.
2018 wurde sie mit dem IF DESIGN AWARD ausgezeichnet. Basierend auf ihrer Erfahrung entwickelt sie heute
Projekte und Konzepte bekannter Marken für Veranstaltungen und Messen in Brasilien und im Ausland.

Juliana is an Architect and Urbanist, and an expert in emotional architecture for brand experience. Awarded
internationally with an IF DESIGN AWARD in 2018, she has a postgraduate degree in Marketing with extension
in behavioral neuroscience, scenography, coolhunting, retail design, cultural anthropology, and design thinking.
She studied at Università degli Studi di Ferrara - Italy, where she lived and developed architecture as a way of
thinking. With her sum of experiences, she develops projects and concepts of experience for recognized brands,
in Brazilian events and fairs and abroad.

Bittor Sanchez-Monasterio ist Architekt. Er absolvierte seine Ausbildung an der ETSAB in Barcelona. In den
letzten 15 Jahren lebte und arbeitete er in zahlreichen Metropolen (Barcelona, New York, Shanghai, aktuell
Brasilien) und profitierte dabei von seinem internationalen, akademischen Background (Etsab, PennDesign,
Gsaap, Tongji, Tsinghua, AA Shanghai Summer School, Ebac). Gemeinsam mit Nicolás Salto del Giorgio gründete
er „Byn Studio“, eine Plattform für Ideen, Designs und Strategien. Dieses neue Modell verbindet Austausch und
Flexibilität als Modus Vivendi.
Bittor is an architect educated at the ETSAB - Barcelona. His cosmopolitan profile results from the mixture of
many different works and academic experiences, and from his extensive professional international travels
(Barcelona, New York, Shanghai and now Brazil) and academic background (ETSAB, PennDesign, Gsaap, Tongji,
Tsinghua, AA Shanghai Summer School, Ebac). Together with Nicolás Salto del Giorgio, he founded the ///byn
studio, a platform of thought, design, strategy, a new professional model that engages collaboration and flexibility
as modus vivendi.

Als Architekt verantwortete Sinuhé Vera Montes de Oca die Architektur der National Autonomous University of
Mexico. Außerdem arbeitete er bereits in verschiedenen Büros und gewann internationale Auszeichnungen, wie
z.B. die SBID International Design Awards mit seinen Entwürfen für Corporate Environments. Er ist der Gründer
von WTF Arquitectos, einem Studio, das sich der Architektur und dem Design von räumlichen Emotionen widmet.
Es entstand aus der Idee heraus, sich von der Projektkonzeption bis zur Ausführung auf die Zufriedenheit des
Kunden zu konzentrieren und so Kreativität, Funktionalität, Originalität, Innovation und Qualität zu verbinden.
Architect for the Architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Sinuhé Vera Montes de Oca
worked in different offices and has won international awards, such as the SBID International Design Awards,
with his proposals for corporate environments. He is the founder of WTF Arquitectos, a studio dedicated to
architecture and design of emotions through space. It emerges from the idea of building experiences, focusing
on satisfying the client in the production of projects, starting from conceptualization to execution, resulting in a
combination of creativity, functionality, originality, innovation, and quality.

durchleben. Sie müssen neuen Anforderungen entsprechen und
aktuelle Entwicklungen aufgreifen.
Als Oberflächenspezialist ist es an uns, moderne Dekore und
Lösungskonzepte über das Wohnen hinaus zu entwickeln.
Urbanization is a recurring theme in studies and analyses around
the world that will transform the way we relate to our work, study,
and leisure spaces.
Work, residential, and public spaces will undergo changes in terms
of features, functionality, and flexibility. They have to meet new
standards and embrace current trends.
As a surface specialist, it is up to us to develop modern decors and
concepts for solutions that go beyond living spaces.
Aktuell leben 80% der Bevölkerung Lateinamerikas, rund 450 Millionen Menschen, in
Städten. Lateinamerika zählt damit zu der am stärksten urbanisierten Region der Welt.
Schätzungen zufolge könnte diese Zahl bis 2030 weiter auf 86% ansteigen. Damit einher
gehen große Herausforderungen und die ständige Suche nach neuen Lösungen, denen
sich Unternehmen und Dienstleister jeglicher Art stellen müssen.
Es ist davon auszugehen, dass die kolumbianische Hauptstadt Bogotá bis zum Jahr 2030
zu einer der Megastädte heranwachsen, Mexiko-Stadt mit 23,3 Millionen Einwohnern die
größte Megastadt Amerikas und Brasilien bevölkerungsmäßig das fünftgrößte Land der
Welt sein wird – hinter China, Indien, Japan und den USA.
Im letzten Jahrzehnt kam es durch die sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Fortschritte
Lateinamerikas zum rasanten Anstieg städtischer Ballungszentren. Einige spürbare Folgen
sind unter anderem die chaotische Verkehrssituation, ein explosives Städtewachstum,
eingeschränkte öffentliche Dienstleistungen und Platzmangel. Begleitende Maßnahmen
und koordinierte Prozesse spielen eine äußerst wichtige Rolle bei der Entstehung von
Megacitys.
Daneben entstehen in urbanen Lebensräumen neue Dynamiken und Möglichkeiten für
demographische, soziale, politische, wirtschaftliche und ökologische Interaktionen. Diese
bestehen oft gleichzeitig in Gruppen verschiedener Ethnien, Gemeinschaften und sozialer
Schichten mit unterschiedlichen kulturellen Wurzeln und Lebensstilen. Sie werden
dadurch zu Inkubatoren für enormes Wachstum und Innovation. Diese kulturelle Vielfalt
Lateinamerikas birgt ein enormes menschliches und kreatives Potenzial mit großer sozialer
Interaktion.
Today, in Latin America, the most urbanized region in the world, 80% of the population –
about 450 million people – live in cities. It is estimated that by 2030, this number will
reach 86%, carrying with it challenges and a constant search for solutions.
By 2030, Bogotá will be included in the list of megacities, Mexico City will be one of the
largest megacities in the Americas, with 23.3 million inhabitants, and Brazil will be the
fifth largest country in the world, behind only China, India, Japan, and the United States.
The social and economic advances of Latin America over the last decade have not been
accompanied by proper planning of large urban centers, and some visible results are
chaotic private and public transport, rapid urbanization without respect for building codes,
poor provision of public services, and deterioration of spaces, among others. This makes
informal activities and processes assume an extremely important role in the development
of megacities.
In contrast, such urban entanglements provide new dynamics and opportunities for
demographic, social, political, economic, and ecological interactions. They often coexist
with groups of various ethnicities, communities, and social statuses with different cultural
roots and lifestyles, becoming incubators of enormous growth and innovation. And as a
result of the diversity of cultures represented in Latin America, we see here an enormous
human and creative potential, with social interaction and cultural diversity.
