Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD. Because of Abram’s trust and loyalty, God changed his name to Abraham, “Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.” Gen 17:5. “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.” James 2:23. 26
David also had a close relationship with God. He did all that God commanded him. God said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart, who will do all my will.” Acts 13:22. Because David was a true and faithful friend he did what God commanded. A true friend is always faithful. Psalms 36:5 says of David, “Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.” As a result of David’s faithfulness, God was faithful to David. He shut the lions mouth when David was placed in the den. Most important, God made David king over Israel and gave him victory over his enemies. Relationship with Jesus Christ When Adam and Eve sinned, humans became separated and disconnected from God. Jesus Christ, who is the only begotten Son of God and shares an unparalleled relationship with his Father, volunteered death on the cross to deliver and redeem human. 1 Peter 3:18 states, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” Jesus death and resurrection was 27
