NEWS FROM THE BOARD
I hope this finds everyone with kids doing great in school, if they need
help, reach out on Nextdoor. We have had lots of parents who just went
through what your kidddo is going through and can probably help you out.
It’s almost Halloween. So, let’s be extra careful when driving that night.
Since it is on a Thursday night, we usually start at dusk and go till 9 PM.
Remember if the porch light is out don’t ring that doorbell.
DON’T FORGET TO CALL INFRAMARK 281-504-1306 and tell them when
you corrected you violations.
Please watch out in the mornings and afternoons for our kiddos getting
on and exiting the buses. Remember you cannot pass a stopped bus. No
one cares how late you are, but everyone cares about our kids safety.
The green bin by the basketball goal is for recyclables only. Basketball
people when you finish your pizza put it in the trash can by the sidewalk.
Our walk way is almost a mile long (.7433). Our new walkway has a few
guidelines that go for our sidewalks as well:
• If your backyard is next to the lake - please make sure your fence is
secure, so your dogs cannot get out.
• Walkers have the right of way.
• NO motorbikes.
• Please pick up after your doggies.
We are not a golf course community, so no golf carts are allowed,
especially on the sidewalks.
If you want to drive one, it has to stay on the street and be street legal
and driven by someone with a driver’s license, per Constable guidelines.
WEBSITE
Our website has all the info you need: By-Laws, Deed Restrictions,
Architectural guidelines and forms. These are all found at www.
lakesideresidential.com.
Our Mud 391 has a new website which will go online soon.
Most of Deed Restrictions can be summed up into:
• NO TRAILERS, COMMERCIAL VEHICLES of any type are allowed in the
neighborhood. If it is your only vehicle and looks like a regular vehicle (no
bucket, commercial supply boxes, ladder racks, ect.) - get magnetics to
match the color of the vehicle to cover the wording each night.
• Keep down the noise! Barking Dogs and loud music.
• If you walk your dog, respect other folk’s yards, take along your “poopickup”
bags and clean up the mess.
• Speaking of yards, clean them up. Plant new and remove dead plants.
Mow as needed to keep the neighborhood looking good. Trim your tree,
4
October 2019 | Villages of Cypress Lakes Lakeside

keep those lower branches trimmed to at least 10’ up.
• Power wash that mildew off your house.
• Vehicle and boat storage is not allowed on your lot, please have
current registration stickers on all your vehicles. They are supposed to
be driveable. The disabled cars parked in the driveway are in violation
of HOA guidelines. Any disabled vehicle parked on the street is a county
offense and should be reported to the Constable.
• Inspect your fence for any missing or damaged fence pickets, we are
required to maintain and replace pickets as they deteriorate.
• Mow your lawn and edge the walks.
• Trash bins are not to be visible from the street. Place them at curb the night
before only on garbage pickup days and retrieve them on collection day by
nightfall. Store them out of view like in the garage, backyard or behind a
barrier on the side of your house - the front porch in not the right place.
• When you order new cable or satellite service, remind the installer that
you live in a HOA and there are restrictions, that dish has to be on the
back of the house. All of the installers are aware of all restrictions and will
gladly install correctly if they understand that you are concerned about
your HOA and therefore your home value.
• Door and or trim painting must be approved by via ARC, you can retrieve
an ARC form through the lakesideresidential.com website.
• DON’T DUMP ANYTHING DOWN THE STORM DRAINS - KEEPING THEM
CLEAN HELPS US NOT TO FLOOD - IF YOUR CAUGHT IT IS A $5,000 FINE.
• SLOW DOWN!!! This is a neighborhood! 30 MPH may be too fast. Give
the kids time to load onto the bus and NEVER pass a bus with flashing red
lights. The kids on the street are much more important than any excuse
for fast and or reckless driving. Tell your teen drivers that you expect
them to love and respect the neighborhood too.
LOITERING AND VANDALISM: Please help us to keep our recreation
areas safe and clean by reporting any and all loitering after dark
directly to the Constable at 281-376-3472. Please also remember to
report any suspicious persons walking around the community or at the
parks immediately to the Constable Patrol. Don’t call the management
company or HOA Director. Better safe than sorry!
Well, we went through the deed restrictions, feel free to reach out if you
have any questions.
DEED RESTRICTIONS: If you want to build something check your plat
map and make sure you are not picking a place on an easement and file
and ARC form. Well, we went through the deed restrictions, feel free to
reach out if you have any questions. When in doubt file an arc application.
TEENAGE JOB SEEKERS
teenage job seeker’s list, please fill out the form on our website (www.
NEARLY 400 VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATE IN 2019
BUS BUDDIES PROGRAM
A total of 390 community volunteers assisted new CFISD bus riders in
safely reaching their proper drop-off points as part of the 13 th annual
CFISD Bus Buddies program, August 26 th -27 th . Bus Buddies rode CFISD
school buses from 2:45 PM to 5 PM during the first two days of school,
assisting bus drivers with the transition back to school.
“The Bus Buddies program motivates hundreds of volunteers from the
CFISD community, Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce and Adopta-School
partnerships to keep our students safe as they adjust to their
school year routine,” Bevin Gordon, director of marketing and business
relations, said. “We are always grateful for this incredible community
collaboration.” In addition to community volunteers, 83 businesses and
organizations participated in the program.
CFISD’S CAMP SUMMIT EARNS
DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION AWARD
Camp Summit, a primary literacy program for kindergarten through
second-grade students, was recently named a District of Distinction
award winner by District Administration magazine.
Camp Summit was established in 2014 and prioritizes prevention over
remediation to address an observed decline in reading achievement.
The camp helps any CFISD kindergarten, first- and second- grade student
who lack reading readiness or struggle to keep pace. Students receive 23
full days of instruction and all students get books to take home daily to
practice their reading skills.
“We are honored to be one of the 34 districts from across the country
to receive the 2019 Districts of Distinction award for Camp Summit,”
said LaTisha Bard, coordinator for primary curriculum. “This award
6
pays tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff, administrators
and Board of Trustees who have supported Camp Summit for the past
six years. We look forward to continuing our work with our youngest
learners to help them become more proficient and confident readers.”
Based on 2018 enrollment data, 96 percent of students experienced
no “summer slide” in reading levels and 84 percent of students
demonstrated growth of one or more reading levels.
“These districts have developed innovative programs to support
students in their education and well beyond the classroom,” said JD
Solomon, editorial director of District Administration magazine. “We
hope our readers are inspired by the efforts of these honorees to create
successful initiatives in their own districts.”
Districts of Distinction was established by District Administration
magazine to honor school districts that are leading the way with new
ideas that solve challenges. Honorees are selected based on quantifiable
results and the replicability of their initiatives. The July 2019 Districts
of Distinction honorees were selected by the magazine’s editors from
numerous nominations. To view a full list of the 2019 honorees, visit the
District Administration magazine’s website.
Gardening Tips For October
• Dig and store caladiums before the foliage dies. Allow the bulbs to dry
in the shade, shake off the dried soil and dust with sulphur to control
fungus. Store by hanging in open mesh bags or old panty hose.
• Flowers planted for spring can begin when the temperatures are going
to stay cooler. Shrubs and trees can be planted now. Woody plants
concentrate on root growth through the winter and the more headstart
they can get before summer, the better.
• October 15th is about the time for dividing and planting daylilies.
• Watch out for brown patch in St. Augustine grass. These circular brown
patches are caused by a fungus that is activated by moist cool weather.
Control with Daconil.
• If you need to do any pruning, do it early in the month. The re-growth
stimulated by pruning needs to harden off before that odd-ball frost of
Halloween. Prune fruit trees when leaves begin to fall. Remove all dead,
weak and over-crowded growth. Tip back main branches to control size
and shape. Spray w/dormant oil when temperature is between 30-60
degrees.
• Cut back tops of perennials after they have bloomed. Divide roots and
transplant anytime from now until March, the earlier the better.
• Get the ant baits down. This will greatly reduce your spring populations.
• Clover left over from last year may be growing. It’s best to hit it with
the post-emerge herbicides in October and November. At least two
applications are usually needed, even if done this early.
• For color throughout the winter, begin planting pansies.
