FOOTBALL FIRST GAME:
Revitalizing The Bulldogs

It was an excellent
first game for our Ellensburg
Bulldogs, competing
very well against
Royal City, but falling
short 21-16. The Bulldogs
had a very strong first
half, giving the Royals a
run for their money.
Ellensburg High’s
quarterback, Ryan Ferguson,
played a very successful
first game, making
two running plays
for first downs. Not only
were his legs working,
his cannon of an arm
made some spectacular throws,
including a 43 yard toss to Running
Back, Brenden Swanson.
Speaking of Swanson, he had
many excellent plays, ranging
from an interception all the way
to a touchdown.
Even in the last quarter of the
game, he didn’t fail at riling up
the crowd, demonstrating excellent
school spirit.
Linebacker, Elijah Harper,
performed well in different
aspects of the game. He had a
good-looking 32 yard field goal
in the first quarter, as well as a
fumble recovery in the second.
He is one
player to
pay attention
to.
After
the game,
Senior Dion
Hardeman
explained
his opinion
on the
first performance.
“We did
an amazing
job for our first game; we usually
get swept by Royal. I didn’t play
as well as I wish I did, but my
boys carried.”
Many have wondered about
the future of the Bulldogs this
season, under the new Head
Coach Jeff Zenisek.
“The new coach is an awesome
guy… very knowledgeable
about the sport,” says Ferguson.
Dion Hardeman voiced his
agreement.
“We have an amazing new
Coach, he’s got good energy,”
said Hardeman.
It seems that the energy the
Bulldogs bring to the field is
an unwavering strength of the
team. As a school, we all look
forward to seeing how the Dogs
perform through the rest of the
season.
