OU ! te, have your say, and f winning a £100 We’ve used our recent research to create a proposal for how the Students’ Union, should represent students and make democratic decisions. We’re really happy with the proposal and feel that it’s a positive model in which we will be better able to engage our members to actively lead the Students’ Union. But it doesn’t matter what we think. STUDENT VOICE THE BIG VOTE Throughout the 2018/19 academic year we conducted research into the views, ideas and expectations of our members (that’s you, students) as well as the views of other key stakeholders such as the University. Should the Students’ Union adopt the proposed democratic structure? YES The Students’ Union will be actively led by a group of 3 Sabbatical Officers and 10 Campus Representatives (2 per campus). The Sabbatical Officers will be: • Academic Officer, who focuses on your academic experience. • Welfare Officer, who focuses on your health and wellbeing. • Activities Officer, who focuses on your social life. Campus Representatives ensure the voice of your campus is heard at the highest level of the Students’ Union. Big decisions will be made via referendums which must be voted on, and approved by, students on every campus. Other decisions will be made digitally by Student Academic Reps from every cohort, on every course, across the entire University. We will establish, support and empower Liberation Networks to provide a safe space for you to socialise, network, represent and campaign based on your identity.
