COLLECTIVE SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
Collaborative Partnerships
PROVINCIAL & INTERPROVINCIAL MEMBERS
in 2016, Directions Council members began to explore social
enterprise models that would benefit from the pooled resources
of multiple agency partners and at the same time create more
employment and skill building opportunities for individuals living
with intellectual disabilities, mental health challenges and other
barriers to employment.
As a result, the Ability Wood
Products Co-operative Ltd.
was established in 2017 and
currently represents the
collective interests of 8
member organizations.
Building on this model, 11
agencies joined forces in 2018
to launch Home Services
Nova Scotia.

TRUSTED. LOCAL. RELIABLE.
housekeeping, meal preparation, packing and
yard work services for older adults in 10
communities across NS. Great job coaches
support friendly, trained staff to ensure
