Partitioning & doors
In modern day architecture and project development,
office buildings are completed without an actual floor
plan. Except for units like kitchens and toilets, hardly
any interior walls are built to offer the eventual buyer
or tenant maximum flexibility when it comes down to
the final design of the office floor.
Elevators
The AFTC SilverTapes are used by some of the world’s
leading elevator manufacturers for the bonding of the
interior of the elevator carts. The constant moving of
the elevator puts stresses on the bond lines. These
bonds were typically done by rivets or screws. The
constant stresses resulted in loosened rivet and screw
holes which led to rattling noises in the elevators.
Offices, conference rooms and other designated
areas are separated using partitioning walls. These
walls typically consist of a glass panel bonded to an
(painted) aluminium or steel frame. The application is
very similar to the Structural Glazing applications as
mentioned above but because of the interior use, the
risks and stresses on these bonds are significantly less.
The principles of door production are basically the
same; a panel (composite, wood, plastic etc,) is
bonded to a steel or aluminium frame.
With the use of AFTC SilverTape, these noises are
minimised or eliminated altogether. Besides this,
you can imagine the aesthetics are very important
to these manufacturers as well. Applications in this
industry are floor, wall and ceiling panels as well as
the lighting and instrument panels.
