PEAK INSTITUTE
PEAK Institute, or PI, is a technical resource center created
to support all aspects of high performance buildings that have
sought TLC’s expertise. PI is primarily focused on connecting
our staff as we solve complex applications of new building
technologies, enabling us to challenge clients with ideas,
solutions, data and practical operations strategies.
As a think tank, PI collects TLC’s research efforts on rapidly
moving developments in the building industry. As PI team
members evaluate the latest trends and developments, their
unbiased opinions serve our clients well. Recent examples
include creating energy modeling algorithms to accurately
evaluate dynamic glazing options and developing circadian
lighting strategies to support WELL Building Standard TM -focused
work environments.
PI is our innovation hub where we gather, evaluate and share
technical and practical knowledge. The collective expertise of the
TLC’s team leads the industry. PI positions us to make the most
of that to benefit our clients by driving innovation and creativity
into our designs.
Many, but not all, TLC projects have
unique technical requirements
or demanding high performance
requirements. PI positions us to excel
on those projects. By realigning our
resources, we’re assuring that our
clients and their complex projects
have the best knowledge available,
where and when they need it. By
intertwining the PI core team with
staff from every TLC operating unit,
we support our continued growth
and consistency of experience for our
clients.”

TLC CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
ENERGY
Our in-house team of sustainability consultants and energy performance specialists
provide new and existing building commissioning, net operating income improvements,
energy modeling and sustainability consulting. We have delivered 430+ LEED-certified
projects, as well as projects earning certification from the Florida Green Building
Coalition, Green Building Initiative and the International Living Future Institute.
In May 2009, TLC made the AIA 2030 Commitment, one of the first MEP firms
nationwide to do so. We are living our commitment daily, resulting in ongoing changes
and improvements to our work processes, business practices, education and training.
ACOUSTICAL
Noise levels that are properly managed can enhance operations or when unmanaged,
negatively impact building occupants and those nearby. As we have direct expertise is in
MEP, we approach our recommendations based on the most practical and cost-effective
approach, whether it is through a surface treatment, an adjustment of architecture, or by
selection of a quieter piece of mechanical equipment. The ultimate goal of our acoustical
specialists is to assure advantageous noises are clearly heard and that less desirable
noises are mitigated or managed, resulting in higher quality environments.
