BEHIND EVERY STORY OF FAITH

He continued according to plan, traveled to town after town,

village after village, preaching God’s kingdom, spreading the

Message... There were also some women in their company... Mary,

Joanna, and Susanna—along with many others who used their

considerable means to provide for the company. (Luke 8:1-3 MSG)

Mary, Joanna, and Susanna’s lives were changed by Jesus. They

experienced His goodness and desired others to know of His

love. They followed Him and used their means to help Jesus and

His disciples change the world!

Not much has changed in 2000 years. Believers like you still

champion the cause of Jesus. With a burning passion, you serve

Jesus and obey Christ’s command to help connect everyone,

everywhere, to God’s love and plan of salvation.

Every story of faith has a believer, a Gospel Champion

whom God chose to invest in bringing the gospel into

their lives. Like Mary, Joanna, and Susanna, God invites

us to be a Gospel Champion, because behind every story

of hope, rebirth, purpose, and love—behind every story

of faith...

...there is someone like you.

REACH STUDENTS

Sidney

Growing up, what Sidney knew of church and Christianity was

nothing more than routine. She had no sense of Jesus working

in her life and did not know what it meant to be in a relationship

with Him.

But when Sidney started her first year at university, she made

friends with a number of believers. As her friendships grew,

Sidney found they provided her with plenty of space to ask

questions.

Sidney’s close friend Kaitlyn invited her to attend Cru with her. As

they worked through the Bible study, they talked about prayer

and Sidney’s perception of God. Her friend respected her views,

but also challenged her and encouraged her to try prayer.

As she prayed, she found that talking to this intangible, invisible

God actually felt normal and comfortable.

Kaitlyn invited Sidney to church, where she saw people actively

living out their faith. By the time she returned to school for her

second year, Sidney had become a Christian. She continued

attending church, started volunteering at a homeless shelter and

began leading a small group. Sidney continues to take steps of

faith as she grows in Christ.

Behind her story of faith, there is someone like you.

RAISE UP LEADERS

Dana

“At a [LeaderImpact] retreat, I was challenged to look at

my calendar and to ask, ‘Where is God in all of this?’” Dana

commented. “God convicted me that I needed to be intentional

about living for Him at work.” With a work environment that

seemed quite hostile to Christianity, Dana felt nervous about

how to show her faith to those around her.

She started by having lunch with a coworker. As a result, they

became friends and she had the opportunity to share the gospel

with her.

Next, she approached her boss for permission to host a Bible

study at work. To Dana’s surprise, her boss said yes, as long

as she invited everyone in the office. Now she has a mix of

Christians and interested people exploring the Bible together.

“People look forward to coming, are encouraged, learn heaps,

and I have had one person—who is a new believer—say that this

has strengthened her faith,” Dana said.

Another colleague recently joined the Bible study group and just

a few weeks later Dana had the joy of leading her to Christ. Dana

is reaching her workplace for Christ.

Behind her story of purpose, there is someone like you.

TRAIN CHURCH PLANTERS

Kojo

The trainees entered their classroom for the week. Some felt

confident, but many were hesitant, unsure of what this training

would hold.

“I was afraid of evangelism,” said Kojo, one of the trainees. “I was

not excited about church planting at all.”

But by the end of the second day, everything had changed for

Kojo. He wanted to go plant churches right away.

The trainees received a variety of tools to help in the churchplanting

process. The group learned about a “Person of Peace”

(Luke 10:6) whom they can look for in each place they visit,

someone who can help build trust between the villagers and the

missionary.

After the training, Kojo went to a neighboring village to look for

a person of peace. He met a man who helped him strategically

meet and build relationships with people. After showing the

JESUS film to the village, 27 people came to Christ. They started

a small Bible study group and are already discussing ways to

plant a second-generation church in another location! Kojo’s

excitement and passion to reach communities with church

planting is contagious.

Behind his story of leadership, there is someone like you.

ENGAGE THROUGH DIGITAL STRATEGIES

Jamila

“It seemed these past two weeks that my life was ending, but now I

realize it’s all been God at work, preparing me to surrender my life to

Christ!” said Jamila, a student in the Middle East. She felt alone and

hopeless after a breakup. As a last resort, she decided to attend a

Bible study.

It was there that a Cru staff member used the GodTools app

on her phone to share the gospel with Jamila. When reading

through “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s

glorious standard,” Jamila covered her face with her hands and

whispered, “This is how I feel—so far from God.” As Jamila was

invited to receive the gift of Christ, she nodded emphatically.

After receiving Christ, Jamila’s life was completely changed.

She began sharing the gospel with her friend, Diane, and after a

few days invited her to a student Bible study. That night, Diane

prayed to accept the gift of Jesus!

Diane immediately shared the gospel with her family in Korea

over Skype, holding her phone up to the screen to share the

GodTools app. Diane’s mother was deeply moved and also

trusted Christ for salvation.

Jamila is having an impact across the globe with the

GodTools app.

Behind her story of transformation, there is someone like you.
