In recent times when one would ask me about trying the local foods
not only would I encourage them to try anything but the options to
be honest were a little limited!
My usual response being, just head to the night market and
you can find lots of eating options there and the locals go there
too. However these days because of the over commercialization of
the night market this option is not such an enjoyable one anymore,
don’t get me wrong the night market is worth a visit but perhaps only
once!
So these days when I am posed with the same question I will
advise visitors to check out three main areas in the center of the
Duong Dong, there are many different types of Vietnamese foods and
they are available at different times of the day.
My first choice for a breakfast area is along the river on Bach Dang
St smack in the center of town and just across the water from the
local market, here you can devour some delicious favorites such as
Bún Bò, Bán Mi, Cơm Tấm, Bò Né just to name a few.
Its hard to recommend and area for lunch as the locals don’t
tend to work much during the middle of the day but if you head to
Nuna Guesthouse & Restaurant you can find a great range of local
Vietnamese lunch cuisine at very reasonable prices.
For the late afternoon and evenings I love the Dinh Cau Temple
area here you will find very simple, mainly street cart food and drinks
with extremely local price!
If you would like more dinner type options then best to head over
the bridge and from there along Nguyen Trung Truc St to the small
roundabout at the old airport, here there are many different foods
available from 5pm until about 9pm.
Whichever way you go one thing is for sure, once you get down
to their level the locals will love you more and trying their food with a
smile is guaranteed to make you new friends.

Có nhiều người hỏi tôi rằng nên đến nơi nào để có thể khám
phá ẩm thực địa phương. Thú thật là tôi luôn khuyến khích
du khách mạnh dạn thưởng thức mọi thứ dù thật tình là cũng
không nhiều lựa chọn.
Thường tôi khuyên mọi người nên ra chợ đêm, ở đó nhiều món
hơn. Tuy nhiên, nơi này dần trở nên thương mại hóa và có ít người địa
phương lui tới.
Tôi không có ý nói việc ghé qua chợ đêm để thưởng thức ẩm thực
là ý tưởng tệ nhưng chắc có lẽ ngoài nơi này, bạn nên bỏ thời gian
khám phá các khu vực khác để thưởng thức hết sự đa dạng của ẩm
thực đường phố Phú Quốc.
Sau đây, tôi sẽ chia sẻ với bạn 03 khu vực dầy đặc hàng ăn ở trung
tâm Dương Đông.
Nếu bạn cần ăn sáng, hãy đến khu vực đường Bạch Đằng, bạn sẽ
tha hồ thưởng thức các món ăn ngon miệng như bún bò, cơm tấm,
bánh mỳ, bún chả cá thu, hủ tiếu,…
Buổi trưa, bạn có thể khám phá các quán ăn ở đường 30/4 hoặc
đến nhà hàng Nuna ở đường Nguyễn An Ninh để thưởng thức cơm với
nhiều món ăn địa phương đa dạng, giá phải chăng.
Buổi tối, bạn hãy ra khu vực trước Dinh Cậu, nơi tập trung rất nhiều
các quầy bán thức ăn đường phố với giá rất rẻ. Bạn cũng có thể lân
la đến đường Nguyễn Trung Trực, khám phá ẩm thực đêm Phú Quốc,
đặc biệt là đoạn từ cầu chợ đến vòng xoay sân bay cũ.
Dù ở cung đường nào bạn cũng sẽ cảm nhận được sự thân thiện và
hiếu khách của người dân địa phương.
