POLITE PARKING
Several complaints have been received about visitors leaving their vehicles
parked for extended periods of time. Please ask your visitors to park in
your driveway or at least in front of your property, leaving your neighbors
room for their visitors to park or to pass through with their vehicles.
DEED RESTRICTION VIOLATIONS
By PMG of Houston Management
Trash bins need to be out of view from the street. That means you cannot
have your trash bins on the driveway, side of home or behind columns
in front of garage door. You will get a letter and if you don’t comply we
will send you to the attorney just for this trash bin violation and you will
receive the attorney charge on your account. Please move your trash bins
out of view from the street.
Leash Laws
There have been several complaints about dogs either running loose in
the neighborhood or being walked but not on a leash. It is annoying and
sometimes frightening, when dogs run up to a homeowner, so for safety
reasons, please keep your dog on a leash. FYI-Excerpt from: The Khan Law
Firm
Harris County Animal Control clearly states that “all dogs and cats must be
kept under restraint while in the unincorporated areas of Harris County,
Texas.” In other words:
• dogs aren’t permitted to run around at large and
• they always must be kept under direct physical control (on a leash) of
their owner
BARKING DOG PROBLEM:
• The best way is to call the Constable office to make a noise complaint. 24
dispatches number 281-376-3472.
• Call from outside when the dogs are barking.
• Request from the operator who answers the phone exactly what to ask
for on a formal noise complaint.
• Tell them you would like to meet the constable to a make a formal
complaint.
• The best way is to talk to your neighbor, but if you don’t feel comfortable
call the Constable’s office.
EXCHANGE STUDENT?
You don’t have any kids? Are you a single parent? Same sex couple? An
empty nester? This is not a problem, we place our students in all kinds of
families!
You’re not rich? Neither am I! Your exchange student comes with their
own spending money and health insurance. All you provide is room/
board and three meals a day. Oh and TLC…but that’s free. Live in the
middle of nowhere? Small town? Not a big deal. Some kids prefer to get
away from the hustle and bustle of big cities. The exchange students also
do pretty well in small schools, as they usually get to be the center of
attention and make friends rather quickly. Our students also get chances
to travel to New York, Washington DC, Hawaii and California…so they
can get their fill of the city life and return back to the peaceful sounds of
nature. Do you consider yourself a boring person? More than likely this
is not true and you should quit being so hard on yourself. Your student
will make friends. Your student will meet other exchange students. Your
student will attend activities offered by our program. Your student will
get involved in sports and school clubs. Your purpose is not to entertain
them. But you might find that you bring a little adventure to each others
lives. Kids are too young? Great! Lots of students love young kids and
your kids will love them. It’s beneficial to introduce your kids to new
cultures at a very young age. You’re preparing them to accept people no
matter what the religion, color of their skin or language they speak. That
my friend, is good parenting. Don’t hold back! This is a gret experience for
both parties. You get the opportunity to change a child’s life. You get the
satisfaction of seeing them grow, even after they leave your home into
becoming a doctor, a lawyer, a diplomat, artist, teacher…the list goes on.
And you contributed to that success! And the best part of it all, is you gain
another family member for life. We need people like you to give these
kids a chance.
STS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to place
exchange students in our area. If you are interest in hosting, please
contact me at 832-455-7881 or at vicki.stsfoundation@yahoo.com. I’ll be
happy to answer any question you might have and get you started on
hosting your very own student!
Guest speaker, Josh Bleill will share his story of survival after a bomb
exploded under the vehicle he was riding in while serving in Iraq. The
events of September 11, 2001 inspired Josh to follow in his father’s
footsteps joining the Marines. In 2006, he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq.
Through two years of recovery, Josh discovered life begins when we
embrace our bad days and keep going forward, one step at a time.
Sponsorships and tickets are available for Salute to Our Heroes. Tickets
must be purchased in advance: $125 individual; $75 veterans.
