spirituel.
Adolf Loos was one of the founders of what would
later be called the Modernist Architecture Movement,
which places the functional aspect of a building above
all other formal considerations. This concern was at
the heart of the work of the Bauhaus architects and
Le Corbusier, who designed 17 UNESCO World Heritage
sites, including the Firminy site, located within
the Metropolis of Saint-Etienne. This latter is the most
successful and gives a tangible form to Le Corbusier's
utopian dream of placing humans at the centre of everything
and presenting a city in a green setting that
puts architecture atthe service of housing, communal
living and physical, cultural and spiritual well-being.
