Programme OutlineMaster of Business AdministrationMaster of Business Administration – Program DescriptionThe Swiss School of Management 1-year international accredited MBA program is designed toequip students with the tools and analytical framework, required for a successful career. Theinteractive community of faculty and students in an international setting provides studentswith globally relevant material in today’s ever-changing economy.The SSM MBA Degree is fully accredited by IACBE and CHEA-Council for Higher Education. OurMBA degree is also accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs in the USA. SSM is aquality certified school by EduQua, the Swiss Quality Certification label (accredited by theSwiss Federal Government) for Institutions of higher and continuous education.Throughout the MBA program, students will study leadership, business, entrepreneurship andmanagement philosophies that can be applied to any management role across variedindustries. Our business school also gives students hands-on, applicable experience leadinggroups and classroom discussions.The program features international lectures, corporate visits, visiting speakers, selfassessmentexercises and resume/internship counseling. Our goal is to start growing students’networks from the moment they arrive.MBA Course StructureThe Master of Business Administration Degree program consists of 15 courses subdivided into12 core courses and a specialization module comprised of 3 courses. It is mandatory to submita final project/thesis or business plan in order to graduate, which will be accounted for oneadditional core course of 4 credits. Most courses are worth 4 credit points and are assessedby either an examination, assignment, or a combination of both. The Master of BusinessAdministration (MBA) university degree is granted to participants who achieve 60 ECTS(European Credit Transfer System).Course DeliveryEach course has to have a minimum of 24 front-class hours and another 30 hours ofassignments, course work, individual or group projects and a minimum three-hours final examas explained above.6
Programme OutlineMaster of Business AdministrationAcademic CurriculumCore CoursesGLB555 GlobalizationThis course is meant to focus on—and facilitate further discussion of—the implications ofglobalization for businesses and investigating the primary economic dimension connectedwith the proliferation of globalization. A main objective of this class is to familiarize studentswith ideas, concepts, and ways of analyzing globalization as well as to spark thinking about thefuture agenda for global leaders in such a changing environment.LSP555 Leadership 360 degreesThe objective of this course is to help students acquire and develop skills in relation toeffective leadership within organizations. Students will understand and compare differentapproaches, theories and methodologies about leadership and will practice leadershipbehaviors through class exercises and assignments.Further, students will go through the process of the “Personal Success Profile”, which is apersonal goal getting process featuring the Leadership Day at the Adventure Camp in OstiaGoals of the course:1. Understand the principal components of a leader’s contribution to highperformance working2. Understand the different ways leadership has been defined, assessed andappreciated in the academic and managerial context3. Practice different behavior indicators related to leadership skills in a workingenvironment4. Evaluate elements of key leadership and management theories and translatetheoretical constructs to practical applications5. Have a personal development plan which includes the development of keyleadership behaviors.SECBUS5555 Cyber Security & Social MediaThe objective of this course is to help students to understand the importance of security as acore element of business and to approach it from different perspectives, including the culturaland communication aspects. The development of internet and of the virtual world is indeed asource for new business opportunities and economic growth. But as we enter the fourthindustrial revolution era, great opportunities come along with even greater risks and securitychallenges. Security should be, then, the primary concern for any entrepreneur who wants toprotect and develop his/her business in the 21st century.7
