Take a steady and consistent approach to fitness training, says Love2Live
The new year is the perfect time to launch a fitness routine and start as you mean to go on in 2020,
says the joint general manager of a Shrewsbury fitness and wellness centre. Chris Skitt, from the
Love2Live gym and fitness studio at Salop Leisure’s multi-million-pound Love2Stay glamping and
caravanning resort, advises a steady and consistent approach to fitness training, rather than doing
too much, too soon. “Our instructors are here to advise and help people who want to improve their
fitness,” he said. For those looking to shed the pounds gained over the festive season by eating and
drinking more than normal, he advised: “Having treats over the Christmas period is fine, but don’t
necessarily overindulge. Go for a brisk walk or run and find ways of elevating your heart rate to burn
off calories.”
Love2Live has more than 200 members aged from 16 to 87 years, with an almost equal split of
sexes. There are more than 40 classes a week and the open gym space is accessible 15 hours a
day.
During January, Love2Live is waving its £20 joining fee for new members. Membership costs £45
per month, with concessions available for NHS employees and members of the Armed Forces.
Chris is now keen to double the size of the gym to add another class to further boost membership
during 2020. However, he stresses that Love2Live will be careful to maintain the excellent
community atmosphere that has been developed in the past year. “Our members are at the forefront
of the community wellness approach and without them, it wouldn’t be the facility that it is today,” he
added. “I would like to expand to give more people the opportunity to experience the community that
we have developed.”
Love2Live celebrates its first anniversary on February 1 and Chris is delighted that members are
engaging with events organised by the company away from the gym. To date, members have
enjoyed a day at Chester Races, a quiz night and a meal and a drink in Shrewsbury.
“Love2Live is in nice position which gives us a solid platform to launch the expansion going into the
new year,” he added. “We are developing a community that we are really proud of and we want
more people to come and participate.
In addition to the 250
square metre gymnasium
and studio, facilities and
activities at Love2Stay
include a natural Biotop
swimming pool, outdoor hot
tubs, restaurant, treatment
rooms, a bootcamp and
large children's adventure
play area.
