Computer Animation<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
This class introduces the basics of<br />
computer animation, starting with simple<br />
GIF animations in Adobe Photoshop and<br />
progressing to Adobe Animate, where the<br />
foundations of keyframes, shape tweens,<br />
motion-tweens, and the bone tool are<br />
presented. The class culminates with<br />
Blender, a state-of-the-art 3D animation<br />
software suite. Students’ animation projects<br />
are uploaded onto personal websites.<br />
Video Editing & Special Effects<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
Students learn to edit video and do postproduction<br />
special effects work using<br />
high-end software such as Adobe Premiere<br />
Pro and After Effects. The main objective is<br />
trimming clips and constructing well-paced<br />
and visually exciting video sequences. The<br />
course emphasizes the fine arts of color<br />
correction and audio editing to give films<br />
a professional appearance and balanced<br />
sound. Additionally, students learn basic<br />
keyframing and color keying with a green<br />
screen.<br />
Access Prep: Broadcasting<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A year-long class<br />
This course prepares students to produce<br />
a monthly multimedia news broadcast for<br />
the Sandia Prep community via YouTube.<br />
Course topics include developing a<br />
basic working knowledge of digital<br />
video cameras, sound and video editing,<br />
interviewing techniques, lighting effects,<br />
creating news and feature stories, and honing<br />
public speaking and presentation skills for<br />
modern media applications. Student roles<br />
include cameraman, reporter, editor, and<br />
web host. Students use high-end cameras,<br />
audio and lighting equipment, as well<br />
as professional video and audio editing<br />
software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud<br />
Suite: Premiere, PhotoShop, Audition, and<br />
After Effects.<br />
Access Prep: Broadcasting 2<br />
A year-long class<br />
This course expands on the topics and<br />
skills taught in Broadcasting 1 as students<br />
independently produce multimedia news<br />
broadcast. Students further develop the use<br />
of digital video cameras, sound and video<br />
editing, interviewing techniques, lighting<br />
effects, creating news and feature stories,<br />
and public speaking. Students use high-end<br />
cameras, audio and lighting equipment, as<br />
well as professional video and audio editing<br />
software.<br />
Webpage Design<br />
Grades 9-12<br />
A one-semester class<br />
Students combine creative vision with<br />
technical knowledge to produce informative,<br />
appealing, and easy-to-use websites. In this<br />
hands-on course, students explore strategies<br />
to effectively communicate using the internet.<br />
Students learn about internet structure,<br />
site layout, style and content, and use web<br />
development tools and languages such as<br />
