• School health services are provided by the health There are no occupational health services in Greenland. Contact with the health service: As a general rule, patients can contact district hospitals, the medical practitioner clinic in Nuuk, dental clinics and the ambulance service without a referral. Public hospital: Greenland’s Home Government owns the public hospitals. Private hospitals: There are no private hospitals in Greenland. Specialized hospitals: There are no specialized hospitals in Greenland. Free choice of hospital: There is no free choice of hospital in Greenland. Patients are referred by the district hospitals for treatment at Dronning Ingrids Hospital (the National Hospital). A special committee (Visitasjonsutvalget) refers patients for treatment in hospitals outside Greenland. All obstetric services are organised under a joint obstetric leadership that has overall responsibility. With the help of patient records that are sent in, and with consultations locally, they decide which births shall be referred to special departments. Practising specialists: There are no practising specialists in Greenland. Nursing homes: Nursing homes are run by the municipalities. There are no private nursing homes or specialized nursing homes in Greenland. ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH SERVICES • Skolesundhedstjenesten varetages af sundhedsvæsenet. Frit valg til sygehusvæsenet: Der forefindes ikke et egentligt frit valg. Henvisnings til sygehusbehandling i regi af Dronning Ingrids Hospital (Landshospitalet) sker via distriktssygehusene. Henvisning til sygehusbehandling uden for Grønland sker via Visitationsudvalget. Alle fødsler er samlet under en fælles obstetrisk ledelse som har det overordnede ansvar, og som ved hjælp af udsendte manualer og visitationskonferencer beslutter hvilke fødsler der skal foregå på specialafdeling. ORGANIZATION OF HEALTH SERVICES A National Pharmacy has been established in Nuuk, with a National Pharmacist, with countrywide functions related to import, distribution and sale of pharmaceutical products. The National Pharmacy produces statistics about pharmaceutical products, prices of nonprescription drugs, revision of the range of non-prescription drugs, licences for retail businesses, guidelines for people responsible for pharmaceutical services, and inspection of pharmaceutical stores and coastal hospitals. The National Pharmacy is the secretariat for the pharmaceutical committee, which has responsibility for authorization of new pharmaceutical products. It gives advice about use of pharmaceutical products, and recommends pharmaceutical products for use in Greenland. Medicines are free and are dispensed by the health services. There is a small selection of non-prescription medicines. FINLAND: Municipalities have responsibility for health services. The responsibility of municipalities is laid down in the Public Health Act (1972), in the Specialist Treatment of Diseases Act (1989), and in the Mental Health Care Act (1990). The tasks of the municipal public health services are specified in the legislation. Here it is stated that the municipalities are responsible for: • Guidance and preventive health care, including children's health, health education, advice concerning contraceptive measures, and health surveys and screening. 23 I Nuuk er etableret et Landsapotek med en Landsapoteker med landsdækkende funktioner i forbindelse med import, distribution og håndtering af lægemidler. Medicin er gratis og udleveres fra det behandlende sundhedsvæsen. Der findes et lille udbud af håndkøbsmedicin. FINLAND: Det er kommunerne, der har ansvaret for sundhedsvæsenet. Kommunernes ansvar for sundhedsvæsnet er fastsat i Folkhälsolagen (1972), i Lag om specialiserad sjukvård (1989) og i Mentalvårdslagen (1990). I følge loven opregnes de arbejdsopgaver, der hører under det kommunale folkesundhedsarbejde. Heri fastsættes det, at kommunerne har ansvaret for: • Rådgivning og sundhedsforebyggelse, som omfatter børns sundhed, oplysningsarbejde, rådgivning angående svangerskabsforebyggelse, sundhedsundersøgelser og screening.
