North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) is a<br />
nationally-accredited organization that<br />
empowers older adults, their families<br />
and the community through an array of<br />
social service programs and services that<br />
enable older adults to live safely and<br />
independently. NSSC provides specialized<br />
adult day services for people with memory<br />
loss, support groups for older adults<br />
and their family caregivers, benefits<br />
counseling, adult protective services for<br />
victims of abuse or neglect, general case<br />
management, friendly visiting, homedelivered<br />
meals, housekeeping services,<br />
hospital screenings to evaluate patients’<br />
care needs upon discharge, therapy and<br />
counseling, private care management,<br />
daily money management and wellness<br />
youth organizations<br />
education. Social service offices are<br />
located in Northfield, Niles, Glenview and<br />
Evanston. North Shore Senior Center is<br />

North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) is<br />
headquartered in Northfield and serves<br />
and engages more than 23,000 older<br />
adults and their families each year<br />
throughout Chicago’s northern suburbs.<br />
This nationally-accredited organization<br />
offers a comprehensive suite of services,<br />
including a wide array of social services,<br />
specialized care for people living with<br />
dementia, private care management,<br />
educational and wellness programs,<br />
and volunteer opportunities. NSSC’s<br />
continuum of services provides for older<br />
adults from the most independent to those<br />
needing more support.<br />
Located in Northfield, its House of<br />
Welcome Adult Day Services provides<br />
specialized therapeutic care for people<br />
living with memory loss and their families,<br />
including a Day Program, a program for<br />
those with early memory loss, and an<br />
Alzheimer’s family support group.<br />
In addition to its flagship location in<br />
Northfield, NSSC has social services offices<br />
in Niles, Glenview and Evanston. Social<br />
services staff visits clients in their homes<br />
and in senior housing buildings. NSSC<br />
also offers hospital screenings to evaluate<br />
patients’ care needs upon discharge in six<br />
area hospitals: Lutheran General, Skokie,<br />
Evanston, Glenbrook, St. Francis and Holy<br />
Family.<br />
NSSC is accredited through the National<br />
Institute of Senior Centers of the National<br />
Council on Aging. Its social services and<br />
adult day services are accredited by CARF.<br />
