A MIGHTY GLANCE

We are Mighty.

We think you

could be too.

We’re Mighty, a creative

communications agency based

in Cheltenham and Worcester.

We do everything from web

development to PR and print

design to social media, and

almost everything in between.

And we do it well.

Our founders have worked

on some of the world’s most

famous brands and campaigns,

so we bring big agency ideas

with small agency impact to

the table. We sometimes work

with promising up-and-coming

ventures, often with challenger

brands, and nearly always with

companies in transition. In

every case, we help clients with

today’s business challenges

while planning for whatever

opportunity tomorrow brings.

3

All companies

great and small

4

It’s fair to say that we’ve

worked with an eclectic

bunch of companies.

While they’re at different

stages of their business

journey, they share the

same mentality – a burning

desire to do or be seen as

something different. It’s this

constant drive that means

we love what we do, and

we love who we do it for.

Chateau Impney

Hill Climb

One particular period of note in

Chateau Impney’s history is 1957–

1967, during which the Chateau’s

magnificent grounds were the

setting for a series of automotive

speed trials that saw thousands of

spectators line the drive. In 2015,

the hotel owners decided to

revive the Chateau’s racing past

for a modern audience with the

introduction of a hill climb over a

longer, more demanding course.

Our job was to create a brand,

bring it to life, spread the word

and bring back the crowds.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Web design

• Photography/Video

• PR

• Social media

• Media buying

• Copywriting

6

We handled every aspect of the

event’s marketing, including the

vintage-inspired logo, bespoke

responsive e-commerce website,

photography, launch video, a huge

suite of printed marketing collateral,

signage, ticketing, advertising and

media buying. Our local, regional

and national PR programme, which

focused on a mixture of hero cars

and stories from across the country,

got everyone talking.

7

8

9

10

Our responsive website made it

easy for visitors to buy tickets to

the event, while giving them a bank

of hill climb knowledge beyond

compare. The history section

highlighted Chateau Impney’s rich

motorsport heritage with interactive

carousels stacked with stats.

We included a feature-rich blog

section with news, images and

video to keep people scrolling and

updated this on a weekly basis with

the stories behind the cars that were

selected for the event.

11

12

Over the weekend of the event itself,

the Mighty team set up shop in the

Chateau’s press office, coordinating

media opportunities and ensuring

the event achieved a truly epic

amount of coverage.

Across the two events we were

involved in, we achieved coverage

in national and specialist motorsport

press, and BBC Hereford & Worcester

broadcast live across the weekend

each time. The event was also

previewed in The Sunday Times, The

Observer and the Daily Mirror.

13

14

At each event, we created a

detailed, highly researched

collectors’ programme that shared

the incredible stories behind some

of the key cars at the event. We

created a vintage-inspired style

for the programme, featuring

lush photography and plenty of

additional information and facts

about the event.

15

16

Throughout each event, we embarked

on a prolific social media programme,

utilising targeted advertising to reach

car fanatics across the country and

local families. We complemented

this with geo-targeting, specifically

targeting people who attended rival

events, and retargeting to encourage

people to take advantage of early-bird

ticket offers.

Wills at Work

Leading law firm Harrison

Clark Rickerbys (HCR) devised

Wills at Work, a virtual will

writing service that companies

can offer staff as part of their

benefits package. We were

tasked to create a standout

brand for the product that

would remove the stuffiness

and stigma around wills

and allow the company to

capture the attention of FTSE

100 businesses and their

employees.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Graphic design

• Copywriting

18

Our experience of the funeral sector

shows that no one likes talking about

death, so if we were to succeed, we

would have to create a brand that

not only came across as fresh and

friendly to the employee, but also

trustworthy and professional to the

HR department. Our first task was to

overhaul the existing wordmark logo,

removing the outdated ‘@’ sign in

the process. We chose a rounded

sans-serif font and presented the

logo in lowercase to give a more

friendly and accessible feel.

Untangling wills for employees

19

20

21

22

The existing Wills at Work brochure

was built around unrealistic stock

images that didn’t connect with

the end user and did nothing to

tell the story of the service. While

the initial brief called for more of

the same, we made the decision to

create a concept that wasn’t reliant

on photography.

Instead, we developed a series of

eye-catching line drawings that

reflected both the work life and

home life of the end user. While each

drawing was created individually,

they were all connected throughout

the brochure by a continuous line,

designed to signify the journey of

life. By having non-descript drawings

instead of stock images of people,

we could appeal to everyone.

Lister

Shearing

With over 110 years of

heritage, Lister Shearing,

based in Gloucestershire, is

one of the world’s leading

animal shearing and clipping

manufacturers. They turned

to us to help them redefine

their marketing efforts for the

digital age.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Web design

• Strapline development

• Packaging design

• Social media

• Digital advertising

24

With the launch of several new

products on the horizon, there was

a need to make sure that the brand

could stand up to the new range.

We looked at the different territories

that Lister sold their products –

from the UK to down under – and

dove into publications, profiles and

photoshoots to understand the

lifestyle of a shearer.

What immediately became

apparent to us is that a shearer’s

world is all encompassing. It’s

not just an occupation – shearing

is a way of life. This became our

strapline and quickly became the

Lister ethos.

25

26

HIS AIN’

T NO 9-5

27

28

Even in the heart of the outback,

a shearer’s life is driven by digital.

Shearers stay connected on their

phones, so we needed to move Lister

on from a plain, inflexible site to a

fully responsive website – built from

scratch, with a bespoke CMS tailored

to their business needs – that would

showcase all of their products to a

more modern audience.

Taking inspiration from the way

that tool manufacturers categorise

their vast catalogue of products, we

developed an easy way for users to

find products, no matter what page

they’re on, and made it simple for

users to filter by animal, with handy

icons to show which products were

suitable for each type.

29

30

Created by professionals, for

professionals, Lister’s new range

of combs were a flagship product.

As competitors were beginning to

corner the market, it was key to

encourage trust amongst users, while

making sure that the comb boxes

would catch the eyes of shearers

looking for something different.

We chose imagery that would evoke

the nature of each name, paired

with vibrant colours that would

give each individual comb its own

distinctive look. We also developed

a specific typeface for all comb

boxes, then modified that typeface

to better suit the individual essence

of each comb.

31

32

The rollout of the combs has been

highly successful for Lister – in

just six weeks after launch, the

company had sold more combs

than they had in the entire 12

months prior. Comments from the

Lister team mentioned that the

marketing had a great part in this,

and had ensured that the combs

stood out in a competitive market.

GFirst LEP

Many don’t understand

what exactly GFirst LEP do

– although they know who

they are, people don’t always

know what impact they’ve had

within the county. A lot of this

is down to how they presented

themselves in the past, so

we undertook the mission to

make the organisation more

accessible and make it easier

for people to find out more.

Services used for this project:

• Graphic design

• Web design

• SEO

• Copywriting

36

The old GFirst LEP website was

cluttered, and on an old, clunky

system that was hard to update. Even

staff couldn’t find the information

they needed on the existing site. Our

first task was to distil what GFirst LEP

does down into a comprehensive,

yet simpler site map, and design a

site that would comply with all the

necessary government regulations.

37

38

However, we wanted to make the site

dynamic as well, so we introduced

interactive templates with integrated

videos, and added key information

hubs to direct people around the

site in a more fluid way. We wrote all

the copy for the site on launch, and

stripped out all the jargon to make it

more public-friendly.

The look and feel of the website

was then used as a basis upon

which to update other collateral,

including GFirst LEP’s annual

review. We stripped it right back,

using illustrations sparingly,

and presented the LEP as more

confident and professional, while

allowing key points to stand out.

Randall

& Payne

Randall & Payne have been

accountants in Gloucestershire

for over 138 years, but just

because a company’s got

heritage, it doesn’t mean

that it can rest on its laurels.

With Making Tax Digital on

the horizon, we were called

in to give Randall & Payne an

ambitious repositioning and

digital update, bringing their

brand up-to-date with their

21st century thinking.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Photography

• PR

• Graphic design

• SEO

• Web design

42

The initial brief was ‘evolution, not

revolution’, but our insights from a

lively brand workshop showed us

that, with major change coming in the

sector, it was time to be brave. The

concept chosen instead erred on the

side of revolution, incorporating a

contemporary font. Lowercase lettering

was used to allow the firm to be seen

as modern, approachable and friendly,

while incorporating the brand’s signature

ampersand in a more modern way.

43

44

45

46

Randall & Payne’s old website was

uninspiring and tricky to navigate,

so we flipped all of that on its head

to design and build a striking,

responsive website that matched

the expectations of the logo and

strapline. We gave the team full CMS

access so they could update their

news and events with ease, simplified

the site map so that it’s as easy as

possible to find the right page,

and drafted new copy that better

reflected the friendly, yet intelligent

nature of the Randall & Payne team.

We developed bespoke icons

for each section of the website,

signposting customers in the right

direction. To increase Randall &

Payne’s search visibility, we embarked

upon a complete SEO overhaul,

implementing a robust keyword

strategy and suggestions for an

ethical backlink campaign.

47

48

Of course, a website is only as good

as its photography. To really bring it

to life, we took dynamic, stylish and

relaxed headshots of Randall & Payne’s

57-strong team, and went out to meet

their clients for on-location case study

shoots, capturing the wide variety of

businesses that they work with.

49

50

As part of the rebrand, Randall &

Payne’s quarterly business magazine

In Focus was due for an overhaul.

We gave it the look and feel it

always deserved, so it wouldn’t look

out of place on the shelf of your

local newsagent.

We shunned clichéd background

stock images when it came to

redesigning Randall & Payne’s

adverts and instead focused on key

concepts that brought their business

propositions to life.

51

SDI

Displays

POS and retail display experts

SDI approached us to help

them rebrand and reposition

the company, with a brief to

give equal prominence to

design and fabrication – to

help overcome the common

misconception that they are

just a manufacturer.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Web design

• Photography

• Graphic design

52

The new logo was created using

a bespoke font made exclusively

for SDI, inspired by the company’s

own expertise in manufacturing. To

accompany the logo, we created the

‘Made with Imagination’ strapline – a

neat, compelling line that not only

reinforces SDI’s manufacturing prowess

but also brings their design capabilities

proudly into the spotlight.

53

54

55

56

We headed into the SDI factory and out

to see their projects in the wild to take

captivating case study photography that

would help bring their printed collateral

and website to life.

57

58

We developed a fully responsive

website that better allowed SDI to

showcase their latest work, while

explaining their process and what

makes them different in a more

visual way. When first visiting the

website, visitors are shown a video

of SDI’s factory, which we planned,

shot and developed, giving them

an inside look at how SDI creates

each display piece.

59

Fusion

Shear

After the success of their new

combs, there was no rest

for Lister Shearing as they

launched the Fusion Shear –

a revolutionary new shearing

handpiece that was designed

to be operated from a mains

supply, rather than a shearing

machine, without compromising

on power. They tasked Mighty

with developing a brand,

packaging and marketing

collateral for the product.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Packaging design

• Graphic design

• Photography

60

Capitalising on Lister’s engineering

prowess, we created a brand and

logo that reflected the fact that the

company sits on the cutting edge of

shearing technology, using a strong,

tech-based font that was developed

specifically for the product and a

metallic sheen.

61

62

63

64

When undertaking the product

photography for the Fusion Shear,

we wanted to ensure we captured

as much detail as possible while

also producing a dramatic,

exciting look and feel for the

product’s new packaging.

Armed with the right photography,

we not only created packaging that

put the focus back on the handpiece,

but we created bold imagery that

could be used on the Lister website

and social media channels.

65

We don’t do

nice work

66

Nice is the enemy of great.

In our world, “that’ll do” just

won’t do.

That’s why we offer so much

more than pretty pictures. Our

team of strategic thinkers,

web developers, writers and

designers combine their

talents to create great work

that really connects with

people, operating across

multiple channels to ensure

your message is heard loud

and clear.

67

The Old

Stocks Inn

After being taken over and

undergoing a multi-million

pound refurbishment,

Cotswold boutique hotel

The Old Stocks Inn appointed

us to bring its unique brand

concept to life through a new

website, printed collateral,

a launch event, and ongoing

PR and social media

management.

Services used for this project:

• PR

• Social media

• Web design

• Photography

• Graphic design

• Media buying

68

We planned, commissioned and art

directed stunning photography that

would capture the imagination of both

locals and tourists alike. This meant

showcasing the hotel’s gorgeous

interiors and sumptuous food.

69

70

71

72

The responsive website we created

has user-generated content at its

very heart, which keeps the site fresh

and interesting. A unique wall of

guests’ Instagram pictures features

on the homepage, and visitors are

encouraged to upload photos that

capture their Cotswolds experience

using the hashtag #oldstocksinn.

Since the hotel opened, our PR

reviews programme achieved visits

from, and coverage in, The Times,

The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian,

Condé Nast, Elle Decoration,

Country Living, the Express &

Star, the Leicester Mercury, the

Nottingham Post and the Bristol Post,

as well as a host of travel bloggers.

73

74

We also hand-drew local landmarks,

such as the spire of St Edwards

Church and Broadway Tower, and

made them into bespoke wallpapers,

which were used on printed collateral

and throughout the website.

We developed creative campaigns

for events both big and small, but

The Old Stocks Inn wanted to do

Christmas in style, so we developed

unique icons for each of their

main events. Our clever fold-out

leaflet even had a bespoke Old

Stocks Christmas jumper pattern

running throughout, way before the

ugly Christmas jumper became a

seasonal must-have.

Shelsley Walsh

In operation since 1905

(with a short break for World

War II), Shelsley Walsh has

long been one of the most

challenging hill climb courses

in the country. They appointed

Mighty to bring their PR and

social media strategy into the

21st century.

Services used for this project:

• PR

• Social media

• Digital advertising

78

We invited Subaru of America to

the hill so they could push the

2019 WRX STI to its limit, spending

the day hosting journalists from

Jalopnik, Roadshow, Hagerty,

Autoweek and more, where they

learned the ins and outs of hill

climbing on one of the country’s

most challenging courses.

79

80

81

82

Shelsley Walsh put the

journalists through their

paces in a special driving

school session, while

we provided support by

answering questions about

the venue’s past and present

and photographing the

journalists’ experience

throughout the day. For

many of them, it was the first

time they’d ever tackled a

hill climb, and found it to be

unlike anything they’d ever

done before.

83

Nephos

Nephos was formerly known

as DS Accountancy, which was

a fairly standard accountancy

firm name – mash together

the initials of the founders,

and you’ve got a business.

However, their proposition of

using cloud-based accounting

technology to grow your

business was far more

exciting. They approached

Mighty to give them a new

name, brand and website.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Web design

• Copywriting

• Graphic design

• Illustration

• Naming

84

We looked high and low for

inspiration that would accurately

sum up founder Joe David’s

mission statement without dating

quickly, and found it in Nephos – an

ancient Greek term for ‘cloud’. As

well as choosing a new name, we

developed a more contemporary,

techy logo that wouldn’t look out of

place on the Xero marketplace with

other leading fin-tech brands.

85

86

We developed bespoke

illustrations that would remove

a typically heavy reliance on the

same old generic photography

that seems to be the mainstay of

accountancy firms nationwide.

87

88

We also set to work on creating

a brand-new website that was

more in keeping with the Nephos

values, complete with bolder copy

and more stylish design. As part

of the website, we developed

bespoke icons to highlight key

services in a way that resonated

with how leading fin-tech brands

communicate with their customers.

89

The Growth Hub

The Growth Hub was set up

to help businesses across

Gloucestershire to maximise

their potential through free

business support, training,

events and consultancy.

While they weren’t looking

for a wholesale change to

their brand, they wanted

to develop it further and

approached Mighty to create

an extended brand and

supporting collateral that

would help tell their story to

businesses in the region and

key stakeholders.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Graphic design

90

When it was time for The Growth Hub

to report back to HEFCE to show

how the funding they’d received had

been put to good use, they turned to

us to develop a stunning publication.

We were determined to ensure that

we created a style that would allow

the results and key information leap

off the page.

We developed striking infographics to make it easier to read and utilised a

the most important points and also created a ‘wow’ roll-fold element in the

centre of the document to fully incorporate The Growth Hub’s tube map

inspired business journey diagram.

94

95

We further brought The Growth

line-drawn icons. Working in

isolation or designed to be joined

up, they were conceived to

represent the long-lasting impact

that The Growth Hub’s support has

on the life of a business.

After moving into an impressive new

building, The Growth Hub enlisted

us to give it some personality. We

created the ‘Grobot’, who can be

found throughout the building

and printed large, colourful vinyl

wallpapers featuring inspiring quotes.

Chateau

Impney

Following a period of

administration, new ownership

and substantial investment,

Mighty was appointed to help

relaunch Chateau Impney

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Web design

• Photography

• PR

• Social media

• Media buying

• Copywriting

• Signage

• Graphic design

98

After in-depth discussions with

the owners, we developed an

all-encompassing marketing plan.

We started off by refining and

modernising the brand that was

already in place, developing a new

and more modern tone of voice.

99

100

101

102

We developed a bespoke,

responsive website, which was

intelligently designed to showcase

all the elements of this multi-faceted

business. As well as developing an

intricate search facility that allows

users to compare different event and

exhibition spaces, we also developed

packages and offers functionality that

ensured each item switched itself off

once a deal expired.

We handled all the PR for the property

as well, coordinating media relations

nationally, regionally and in the trade

media, including the exhibition,

meetings and hotelier press, and

securing the Chateau’s inclusion in

The Times’ Cool Hotel Guide.

103

104

We also undertook a photographic

programme. Working with a leading

hotels photographer, we worked

with the general manager to capture

beautiful interior and exterior

photography that would form the

core of all marketing collateral.

105

We’re the

In our experience, great work

and great people come as

a package.

As individuals, we’re strategic

thinkers, creative souls, digital

natives, story tellers, shrewd

analysts and talented artists.

We’re restless, tenacious, and

constantly curious. We talk

there’s a better way. Taken

individually, we’re all pretty

Invest in

Gloucestershire

Invest in Gloucestershire, a

project initiated by GFirst

LEP, was created with a

simple yet ambitious goal in

mind – to showcase the best

that our county has to offer

to the international business

community and encourage

growth through inward

investment. We were tasked

with bringing the Invest in

Gloucestershire proposition

to life through a new brand

and website that would inspire

businesses across the globe to

find out more about putting

down roots in the county.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Web design

• Copywriting

108

Invest, Innovate, Grow.

Inspired by the six districts that

make up Gloucestershire, we

created a vibrant logo that showed

how dynamic the county could

be, with flowing lines to represent

growth and movement.

109

110

111

112

We carried our lines throughout

the photography selected for the

website, showing how Invest in

Gloucestershire is at the heart of

business and progress in the county.

When it came to the website

itself, we needed to create

a hub that would appeal to

an international audience.

Although translation was

ruled out at this stage, we

developed a site with a

bespoke CMS, so language

support could be added at a

later date if required, and so

the site could grow with each

new industry focus.

113

Portium

Leading UK door manufacturer

Calibre Doors has a strong

presence in the world of social

housing projects and new build

residential developments,

but were looking to enter

the lucrative market of luxury

homes and self-builds. We

created a brand that would

help the business leave a

lasting impression.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Graphic design

• Web design

• Social media

• Digital advertising

• Strapline generation

114

The key feature of Portium’s door

was its core, which had been

engineered to be extremely

strong and secure. We took this

as our focus and developed the

strapline ‘Quality at its core’ to sum

up exactly what makes the door

special to consumers.

Luxury often means simplicity

and elegance, so we created a

stripped-back logo that utilised a

high-end, contemporary font while

representing the core of the door

with a simple, stylish marque.

115

116

117

Given the product’s fledgling nature, we created a

simple brochure that showcased the full range of styles

available and key features. We kept the level of detail

pared back to what was absolutely essential, giving the

imagery room to shine, and used an uncoated stock to

provide a more premium feel.

Quality at its core

The threshold of quality

To cement Portium’s position as

a luxury addition to your home,

we created minimalist adverts

inspired by high-end interior design

magazines that emphasised the

quality of the doors.

118

A simple website was developed for

launch to allow customers to download

a brochure and find out more about

the doors. The responsive website was

photography-heavy, with pop-up forms

that allowed customers to submit their

details and download the brochure.

Local Industrial

Strategy

After an initial trial period across

a number of key regions, the

government put out a call for

LEPs across the country to devise

a Local Industrial Strategy – a

series of proposals to increase

local economic productivity.

Ever the trailblazer, GFirst LEP

wanted to stand out from the

rest with a dynamic, easy-to-read

document. They approached

us to bring their draft Local

Industrial Strategy to life.

Services used for this project:

• Graphic design

We produced two documents for the LEP

– the draft LIS and its evidence base. Both

documents were huge, with complex

graphs and plenty of facts and figures,

so we took the time to create documents

that featured lush photography, plenty

of colour and simple infographics that

highlighted key items and made the

strategy as a whole easier to digest.

The draft Local Industrial Strategy

was released at GFirst LEP’s annual

review to great applause. It drove

high levels of traffic to the website,

where members of the business

community and beyond were able

to have their say and input into the

final version.

Fire Doors

As news emerged about who

had manufactured the fire

doors in Grenfell Tower, we

handled crisis communications

for the Synseal Group,

ensuring publications had

the correct information

while managing our client’s

reputation. As well as handling

trade and local publications,

we also dealt with journalists

from national titles, including

the Sunday Times, who were

looking for a scapegoat.

Services used for this project:

• Branding

• Naming

• Copywriting

• Graphic design

FIRE DOORS

Following months of research and

development, the Synseal Group was

confident that it had a fire door that

not only met the existing standards,

but exceeded them. We gave the

range the name Warden, based on

the fact that a fire warden is often

on the front line of defence in a

building, and developed a new brand

that reflected the premium nature of

the product with rich colours and a

strong, bold font.

We created a brochure for the

range that put an emphasis on

safety, outlining key test results

and standards, and developed

bespoke icons that were used

throughout the brochure and on

the Warden website.

Throughout the year, we also liaised

directly with the Ministry of Housing,

Communities and Local Government,

keeping them informed throughout

the Synseal Group’s testing process

and helping them to bring together

industry leaders and implement best

practice across the fire door industry.
