Congress: Call lawmaker to order, Warri
PDP tell state party chair

called on the Delta State
PDP Chairman, Mr
Kingsley Esiso to call a
member of the state House
of Assembly member,
representing Warri
Constituency II, Matthew
Opuoru, to order for
allegedly trying to hijack
the party structure.
The aggrieved party
leaders who made this call
in Warri, weekend, accused
the law maker of holding a
ward Congress without
involving all members of the
party. They therefore,
rejected the outcome of the
congress which produced
five executive ward
members, whom they say
are members of the
lawmaker’s family.
All efforts to speak with
Matthew Opouru proved
abortive as he did not pick
his calls nor reply to text
messages sent to him.
Mr Cyril Eboh, the Youth
President of Okere-Urhobo
Development Movement and
member of the Delta State Land
and Waterway Security, who
spoke on behalf of the aggrieved
members said the law maker has
refused to listen to the party
hierarchy in the state when he
conducted a kangaroo party
congress where he imposed most
of his family members into choice
positions in the ward executive.
He said if the matter was not
resolved immediately, it might
snowball into another round of
crisis that may damage the
image of the party in the state.
“We are here today because
of Okumagba 1, ward 11 has
been hijacked by the law maker
representing the good people of
Warri Constituency II in the
Delta State House of Assembly.
“We cannot continue to have

Adviser.
Oborevwori in a
statement by his Chief
Press Secretary, Mr
Dennis Otu, said the
Political Adviser who
hails from Oleh in Isoko
South Local
Government Area of the
State, served as first
Member of the Federal
College of Education
(Technical), Potiskum,
a situation in a party whereby the
chairman of the ward is his
younger brother, the secretary is
his younger brother, even the
LGA Organising Secretary is also
his brother. For crying out loud,
the party belong to all of us and
not to a particular family. So what
we are saying is that the party is
large enough to accommodate all
of us and so the positions in the
party should spread across board
to accommodate all members.
“As the youth chairman of the
Okore-Urhobo community, I want
to call on the party chairman in
the state and the party leader of
the Warri-Urhobo, Chief
Emmanuel Okumagba, to wade
into the matter.”

tension is currently
brewing in the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP,
in the Burutu council
area of Delta State, when
the agenda of a
stakeholders’ meeting,
weekend, allegedly took
a different twist.
Anthony Ebitonmo
Alapala, a leader in
Ogbolubiri Ward 9,
raised the alarm in what
he termed ‘breach of
existing agreement’ by a
few leaders attempting
to impose a candidate on
the party to continue as
chairman in the council
area, against the zoning
system.
He warned that if
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa,
the state PDP chairman,
Kingsley Esiso, failed to
nip the situation in the
bud, there might be no
PDP in the Burutu
council.
“When we got to the
meeting, called by the
party secretary in Burutu,
what we saw was an
endorsement of the
incumbent party
chairman by some party
leaders, which has never
happened before.
CBN clarifies domiciliary
accounts' operation
ABUJA—THE Central
Bank of Nigeria,
CBN, has clarified issues
surrounding the operations
of domiciliary accounts
in the country.
Making the clarification
in a chat with newsmen
in Abuja , the Bank's
Director, Corporate Communications
Department,
Issac Okorafor
stated that “the Bank has
not prohibited the acceptance
of foreign currency
cash deposits by
Deposit Money Banks.”
He further explained
that “Only electronic
fund transfers into Domiciliary
accounts can be
transferred from such accounts
while cash deposits
into such accounts can
only be withdrawn in
cash also.”
Okorafor therefore
urged stakeholders and
other interested parties
to always endeavour to
seek clarification on issues
and avoid speculative
tendencies which
are detrimental to the
financial system.
There were reports that
some banks reports that the
apex bank had directed
banks to pay customers

But CBN said
there were no such directive.

information at my disposal

break into pieces and there
will be mass exodus to opposition
parties because a lot
of aggrieved persons are
waiting to strike.”
