thankful for 5-time win for
Best Consignment Shop
“It is an honor to receive
this award and am extremely
thankful for the support
of the community. I am so
grateful for all of our customers
and consignors, for
without them we don’t have
a store,” said Janice Sabey,
owner of Evilena’s Red
Dresser.
Evilena’s has been the
Southwest Choice Award
winner for Best Consignment
Shop in 2016, 2017,
2018, 2019 and 2020.
Evilena’s has been in
business for 10 1/2 years,
and recently celebrated two
years since expanding into
the old Starbucks location.
Sabey said her store manager
had the idea to flip the
store and put the women’s
boutique in the Starbucks
space, and the furniture in
the main entry space. They
are encouraging customers
to come and check out the
new layout.
“We like to say we have
departments now, and hope
it is easier to shop,” Sabey
said.
Consignment stores give
consumers a unique shopping
experience because
the inventory is constantly
changing. Shopping consignment
can be a great way
to decorate or stage a home
on a tight budget using a
little creativity and imagination.
“Our interior stylist, Denise
Lough, The Room Designer,
is proof of this, as we
call her the miracle worker,
having the ability to take
items from every era and
make it pleasing to the eye,”
Sabey said.

“We at Evilena’s are constantly
trying to keep things
fresh and improve on processes
to make shopping
and consigning the best
experience possible for our
customers,” Sabey said.
Evilena’s recently added
a line of quality, affordable,
handmade dining and
accent tables from Mike
Drozd of Grandview Woodworking.
Custom sizes and
styles are available for order.
On Fridays, customers
can meet “fashion diva”
Maureen Kocsis with Decorate
Me AgeAmazing, and
receive help for personal
fashion ideas.
Consigning is a proven
method to generate cash
from possessions. Evilena’s
gives careful consideration
to the merchandise they accept.
Because Evilena’s is
a consignment store, 40%
of all sales go back into
the hands of the consignor.
Currently, some consignors
save their earnings and
wait to cash out for Christmas
money. Some wait for
a large furniture purchase,
while others use it solely for
in store credit for this and
that while others cash out
monthly.
With the many avenues
for buying and selling online,
Evilena’s started an

pick up in the store or have it

Customers can also check
the Evilena’s website for

Classes, a Vision Board
Class, the annual Garden

A unique feature of the
store is that Bibles are a free
gift, located in the prayer
corner. Prayers may be left
in the box at any time and
are prayed over weekly,
often by Sabey’s husband,
John.
“There is a lot going on
in people’s lives day to
day, and we just want to be
an uplifting place to come
into,” Sabey said. “Although
shopping online is
a tremendous convenience,
we love the many relationships
built over the years,
and adore making the store
a place of inspiration in so
many ways.”
Evilena’s Red Dresser
also gives back to local organizations
such as LWS-
RA, Heavenly Brothers,
The Conservation Foundation
and others, with the
hope of inspiring or informing
others about these beneficial
local organizations as
well.
