Born and raised in Brackenhurst, Nasrene
Khan is now living in Glenvista
and she recently released her debut
EP, Girl with Feelings – something she is
extremely excited about.
“I don’t ever remember when I was not
into music and I’ve always been fascinated
by how a song comes together.
Being an artist is something I’ve always
wanted to be,” she said.
As a singer and songwriter she draws
her inspiration from artists such as
The Corrs, Avril Lavigne and Michelle
Branch, but it was pure passion that
made her decide to pursue a career as
an artist.
If she could collaborate on a song with
someone right now, it would be Black
Coffee. “He is a South African artist
who does very well internationally and
I just love the vibe I get listening to his
music,” the pop artist said.
She admires The Script because
their lyrics are always so inspiring
and motivating.
If there is one thing she could change
about her industry, it would be for
others to have more appreciation and
respect for each other’s crafts and, of
course, to support each other more.
Making a name
In July 2019, Nasrene signed a
global exclusive artist deal with
internationally renowned label David
Gresham Records.
Subsequently, she released her debut
single, Break the Ice on October 18
while at the Amsterdam Dance Event
(ADE), garnering immediate attention
from top playlists around the world on
major platforms such as Spotify, Apple
Music and Deezer.
During ADE, Nasrene was invited to
write and record with influential Dutch
publishing companies BMG Talpa,
Cloud 9 Music as well as Armin van
Buuren’s Armada Music Publishing.

She is driven by her love and passion for writing
meaningful, relatable songs and is slowly but surely
making her dreams as an artist come true.

her debut, not only as a songwriter but
also as an artist.
Creating the masterpiece
Nasrene’s music ranges from alternative
to electronic pop. She usually
starts with a melody for a song and
then the lyrics follow.
“I want my music to be catchy but also
really relatable. People should feel the
songs came from an honest, good
place,” she said.
“For example, Love You Through the Pain
was written about my relationship with
love itself. It’s a reminder that love is
so complex with so many sides to it
and there are many different ways of
showing love.
“And in all these different ways that
you can love, you are vulnerable to being
hurt, but you have to love anyway.
It is, after all, a fundamental part of
what makes us human.
“I am proud and happy to share this
part of me with whoever will listen,”
Nasrene said.
A personal note
“Growing up in a family with an Indian
background, it was not always easy to
pursue my dream of becoming a pop
artist, but thankfully I have very supportive
parents who cheered me on,”
she said.
“My family just wanted me to finish my
studies before going 100 per cent into
the music industry. Therefore, I finished
my degree in pharmacy.”
In her spare time, she likes to watch
Netflix, read a good book or bake
something tasty.
The best advice she’s ever been given is
that hard work, perseverance and commitment
always pay off.
Her message to her fans is they should
not limit themselves when it comes to
pursuing their passion. “You can be anything
you like as long as you work hard.”
Nasrene lives by the motto “Trust the
timing of your life.”
