It is > One Degree Hotter in Here

Every year, Alumni Relations welcomes new graduates into our

family. It is never just one degree hotter in Alumni Relations – it

is > 2,000 degrees hotter with each new cohort.

We are happy to share with you Alumni Relations’ many

happenings and developments involving our alumni

community. We also had the opportunity to collaborate with

Schools, Centres, and various departments, which contributed

to a wealth of wonderful 2019 moments.

Our collaborations and efforts includes surveys, alumni

profiling, campaigns and more – executed in the pursuit of

building a stronger and more dynamic alumni family.

Employers’ Perception Survey 2019

Our Alumni is one of the strong pillars that impacts the university’s

reputation. We appointed a research company to conduct the

Employers’ Perception Survey in 2019 to determine, assess and

understand employers’ perception of SUSS graduates from the parttime

programmes. These were the key findings.

• More than 8 in 10 employers have a “Good”/ “Excellent” impression of

SUSS graduates; where 42% are described as having professional working

attitude

• 95% of employers agreed that SUSS graduates possessed the key

important factors considered in hiring. Teamwork, Problem Solving &

Interpersonal Skills were the 3 most important factors.

• Almost all employers (99%) indicated that they would hire SUSS graduates

as they possessed the relevant knowledge and skills required.

• In terms of graduate performance, SUSS had the highest rating for “Very

Satisfied” (45%), followed by NUS (44%) and NTU (41%).

• 13,119 alumni listed (as of 18/03/2020)

• 86.0% of 2019 graduates are on LinkedIn (vs 82.3% in 2018)

Company Insights:

• For two years in a row, MOE is the top hirer of our graduates. Recurring companies include

Prudential Assurance Company, AIA, PwC, DBS Bank, Singapore Police Force, Singapore

University of Social Sciences and United Overseas Bank.

• Ministry of Defence was our top hirer from 2011 to 2016, dropping out in 2017 with no comeback.

It may appear that either 1) their scholarships are on hold/ in batches or 2) SAF personnel simply

do not maintain a LinkedIn presence as they’ve signed on and a career profile on social media

is irrelevant.

Alumni Campaigns on Social Media

Notable Campaign: 2019 Report Card

- Invited alumni to share their own community projects with us for a

chance to win SUSS memorabilia

- Alumna Su Weizhi provided free eye-screening to 120 needy

benficiaries and fitted 80 of them with spectacles. Declined to divulge

the name of her company.

- Alumna Emily Mai provided free business consultation for

Saturday Kids, a not-for-profit coding school that inspires kids to be

self-directed learners.

Notable Campaign Outcome:

Support begins at home

- Invited alumni to commemorate standees’ unveiling by taking

photos for a chance to win SUSS memorabilia

- With no internal circulation, SUSS staff alumni found out about the

campaign via SUSS Alumni Instagram and came down on the same

day to support the campaign

- Alumni Shanice (SST) and Kim Jian (SR) brought their fellow staff

alumni to take a photo with the standee to support the campaign

LIVE Campaigns

Our Findings:

E-shop gets the highest interest (accounts for majority of activity) in our

monthly EDMs.

Our Response:

To amplify the interest in our E-shop, we will run Instagram LIVE

demonstrations of our e-shop items. Alumni can see the item introduced live

before purchasing it on https://www5.suss.edu.sg/eshop/. With exclusive

benefits e.g. free normal postage and car decal

Our Findings:

We experienced a large spike of alumni queries on e-certificate/ transcript

despite clear instructions sent via email.

Our Response:

To provide more meaningful assistance, we will run Instagram LIVE

demonstrations, showing the process of downloading .opencert and

opening it in https://opencerts.io/..
