But at the time,buying new was their only option. Afterhearing the voice of the customer andrealizing this gap, Caterpillar worked with ourdealers to develop the Cat Certified RebuildProgram. (Fun fact! The Program celebratesits 35th anniversary next year!)In addition, trained dealer serviceprofessionals perform this work using genuineequipment and parts. Caterpillar providesinformation, data, training and service tools tohelp dealers make the most appropriatedecisions on which parts to reuse in order toachieve expected longevity of rebuiltcomponents. Rebuilding their current machinefulfils the customer's need for updatedequipment for a fraction of the cost of new.”The program continues to progress to meetour customers' changing needs and highlightthe Cat dealer network's outstanding servicecapabilities.Rebuild programs increase the lifespan ofequipment by providing customers withproduct updates for a fraction of the cost ofbuying a new machine. TheMINING EXECUTIVEMagazine FEBRUARY 2020Today, the program offers rebuildservices for complete machines,machine power trains, machinecomponents, hydraulic system andcommercial engine rebuilds.Dealers receive a list of parts (defined by program standards) thatmust be inspected and/or replaced. They also receive engineeringupdates and machine enhancements that can add capabilities themachine didn't have when it was new.Over the years the program has evolved to meet shiftingcustomer needs, including in 2001 with the addition of CatCertified Power Train.
