GOOD FRIDAY - 10 April, 2020SOLEMN COMMEMORATION OF THE LORD’S PASSIONGood Friday is the only day of the year when the Eucharist is not celebratedthroughout the world. On this day, commemorating the full and perfect sacrificeon Calvary, the re-presentation of the sacrifice of the mass is not offered– so as to better focus on the real and historical event of the death ofJesus. The Liturgy of the Word and the pre-sanctified communion remindsus that the fruits of his death and resurrection are available today in thesame way they were made available on that day when his blood pouredforth and cleansed the sin of the world.The service begins in silence, with the prostration of the Bishop and ministers.In terms of Catholic gesture; the bow shows respect, the genuflectiongreater respect, the double-genuflection even deeper respect, and the prostrationis a sign of total submission to the power and grace of the sacrificeof Jesus Christ.
