• PPK program serves three year-olds through an educational

journey that aims to develop their full potential.

• Our curriculum is designed to respond to each child’s needs

and characteristics.

• Play is an important source of learning, promoting the integration

of the developmental domains.

PRE-KINDER

• Curriculum is based on 8 different thematic units that enrich

social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth.

• Areas developed in these units include:

> Language Arts > Music

> Dance > Math

> Science > Social Studies

• Skills developed:

> Observation > Identify

> Communication > Comparison

> Contrast > Classification

> Sequence > Predict Cause and Effect

> Explore > Gross-motor

> Fine-Motor Perception > Speaking

> Listening > Language Adquisition


KINDER

• Curriculum content is integrated through themes, projects,

play, and other learning experiences. Centers are featured

with blocks, puzzles, playhouse, and manipulatives being

the favorites.

• Students expand their phonetic appreciation of vowels and

consonants, as well as learn the systematic process of

pre-reading and pre-writing through activities, such as:

rhymes, songs, pronunciation and tracing.

• Kindergarten students are exposed to technology including

computers and early robotics.


LANGUAGE ARTS

• The Journeys series of comprehensive English Language

Arts books are incorporated into all grades (K-6).

• Our resources develop critical thinking, problem solving

and analytical skills. These skills will immerse the students

into a holistic approach to learning.

• Phonics, grammar, and the writing process are included in

the Language Arts curriculum.

• Technology integration:

> Online platform integration with all the virtual tools, including

interactive books

> Laptops (4th ,5th, and 6th)

> Touch-screen Interactive Smartboards


MATHEMATICS

• Students begin learning how to count all the way through

performing the different operations, and even introduced to

pre-algebra.

• Go Math! series is being used in all grades from K-6.

• Online platform includes features such as an interactive copy of

the book and Personal Math Trainer.

• Technology used in classrooms:

> Projectors

> Laptops

> Touch-screen Interactive Smartboards


SOCIAL STUDIES

• The Social Studies curriculum begins with the family and the

community. It covers states and regions, United States

history, and ancient civilizations.

• Geography is integrated in Social Studies throughout the

year in all grades (map skills). A Geo-Bee competition is held

every other year.

• Technology Integration:

> ED Online Platform – interactive topics and resources for students

> Interactive Smartboards

> Virtual Reality (Google Expeditions)

SCIENCE

• Our curriculum is based on spiraling, standard and inquiry

based instruction. Students use their natural curiosity to learn

about the world around them in the realm of life science,

physical science, earth and space science.

• Students are given the tools to learn how to apply the

scientific method.

• CPS stresses critical thinking skills and the mastery of

scientific knowledge, synthesis and application.

• Students use technology on a daily basis as a method of

instruction, practice and to communicate their information.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION & RECESS

• Our Physical Education Program offers a variety of activities

for our students from grades PPK- 6, including free play.

• CPS recognizes the value of physical activity for health,

enjoyment, challenges, self-expression and social interaction.

• Pre-school: fun classes are our priority as “happy children

learn better.”

• 1st - 6th Grade: While fun is still important, we dedicate

more time to integrating movements that will help in the

development of life skills
